offbrand (chinese) 3pt backhoe

Im looking for a used backhoe attachment and it seems I must use a 3pt settup for my L345DT since a BH subframe isnt available for my rig according to my local Dealer

In my area, Northern New England, there isnt much to choose from used in the $3500 range EXCEPT I keep seeing listings for brand new chinese rigs with thumb and everything for $3-$4K.

Any real world experience with these units and the suppliers? Im guessing I would need a PTO pump to run one of these.

Id really like a nice, well maintained, ready to use ugly Woods unit but i cant find one.

I cannot speak for backhoe.... but I know a guy who just got a cheep rototiller for his 3-point hitch. This rototiller APPEARS to be a nice unit.... until one starts using it.

The very first time he used it, the bolts holding the tines on started to snap. They are MARKED 8.8 (Asian equivalent of grade-8)...but I personally saw several of them snap right off.

From what I understand, this is exactly what cheep chineese knockoff bolts do.

If I were you, I would keep looking for an older QUALITY unit....even if you have to travel several 100 miles with a trailer to get it.

This is likely what ill do. BUT last couple years people on craigslist have gotten extremely dishonest about what they are selling at least in my experience so when I travel far, I always end up buying when i should be walking away.

I see skidsteer backhoes a lot wonder if they would work to adapt to 3pt hitch? Or would they be too heavy and need lots of flow because they were designed for SS

Motionclone, I'll give you something to think about. Build you own sub frame for your tractor and mount a backhoe from a Ditch Witch trencher. They are self contained units, seat, outriggers... the whole thing.

Ditch Witch trenchers bolt on with 4 bolts the the DW frame/tractor. You hook up the quick disconnects and you have a backhoe on your trencher. Just adapt it to your tractor. And they are quality hoes.

Before you buy the Chinese product, try and buy some parts for it. Seals for cylinders, bushings for moving parts, control valves.

Usually those who import these Chinese made items don't waste money on importing parts. Also, the products change Brand names so fast it is hard to find your machine even in China.

Ask to see manual to read before you buy. Most of the manuals have not kept pace with product changes and then, when you need some info, your manual is not relevant to the implement you have.

In the last couple of years I have help several buyers of Chinese tractors and implements. My biggest mistake is to read the manual first as it is completely misleading as the proud owner tries to describe his purchase to you.

Dave has a good point. When I was looking at tractors not long ago I was stuck between Kubota and an Off brand for much less. I did exactly what he said above and started looking for parts like, clutch and basic things i knew would need to be done in several years on there older units. All I found was I needed to buy the Kubota or better brand. Buy once cry once. Good luck!

Just noticed there’s a guy selling a BH75 with subframe in the classifieds section. I would assume you could modify the subframe to suit your machine.

3 point BH Attachment on any tractor is a poor idea. Easily tear the top link right off the tractor. Have a 10 ft Long Brand BH on 50 hp utility. Soon learned to fabricate a subframe for attachment.
