Greetings,
Got 389 hours and was going to replace the 1st fuel filter up behind the brush guard.
Any tricks to getting enough slack in the feeder from the tank to pinch it off to keep fuel from going everywhere.
I cant get in there with anything.
It looks good no sediment on the bottom of the filter may put it off till Fall and just replace the upper one and get this deck back on.

Any one ever put an inline shut off once this thing is removed to make life easier next time??

Also I was at the dealer yesterday 40 miles away and forgot to get an oil filter.
Will a NAPA filter and oil be OK. Never used any thing but Kubota but want to finish this up tomorrow.
Kubota oil appears to be 10w30 oil n biggie there I don't think?

Input appreciated.
Thanks

Aftermarket oil filter is fine, either 10W30 or 15W40, just look to see the 10W30 is diesel rated, all 15W40 is diesel rated. ;)

I just replaced the fuel filters on my BX1870 for the first time, and maybe I got lucky, but had no trouble pinching the line from the tank right before it reaches filter number one. I did need to unbolt the bracket that holds the filter and then pull on the fuel line a bit. I then used a pair of vise-grips (whose teeth were wrapped with tape) to clamp the line.

I was mentally prepared for this to be a struggle from reading others' accounts. Given that expectation, it wasn't too bad, and since I had two new filters ready, I went ahead and changed both. Cut open the first one, and it showed some trapped grit, but not too much, given two years and about 250 hours.

As for oil filters, Messick's (big Kubota dealer) has a video where they cut open both Kubota and NAPA models for the BX, and the Kubota has significantly more filtering media. I'd at least choose the Platinum NAPA.

I took the filter clamp off 1st.
Cant seem to get enough slack .
Does your BX have the guard across the bottom to keep brush from getting into the cooler fan blade.?
With that on I cant pull enough slack to get vice grips up in there to pinch it off.

May wait till Fall as it doesnt look bad and after the deck is off to screw with it.
I will do the upper one today.
I use a funnel with an injector screen inside when filling it and I think it helps bunch.

If I could pull enough slack I would put an inline shut of to make it easier.

Thanks for the input

Think its a NAPA gold series.

I change it every year so I think it will be OK.
NAPA was same $$ as dealer so next time I go out that way (40 miles) I will pick up a few along with fuel filters and Hydro.

Oil I will get locally

Yeah, mine has that fan guard, but i could still pull enough fuel line to get the mini-visegrips on. I do think I got lucky with a bit more line in that section than most people, since everyone else complains how hard this is.

You lucked out.
They need to add 6 inches of hose.
I am thinking the only way to avoid a mess is to run or siphon the tank and then pop the engine side off and drain the remainder then pull the tank side and swap out the filter.
With out getting a face full of fuel

When I do this I will ad a section of hose to add some length and push the excess up underneath.

I had to extend my power steering return hose when I added a filter...

From Lowes, a brass barb to barb fitting, hiding in the plumbing section...

From AutoZone, in the “Help” section, some squeeze fuel hose clamps,
And behind the counter, fuel hose, sold by the foot...

You guys do realize it only takes a minute and to 14mm wrenches to remove that shield making changing the fuel filter very simple. :)
