Winter brush hogging

Saw a guy this morning doing some brush hogging with his Kubota. At first I thought it was strange because we have a few inches of snow on the ground but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. The brush should cut easier being dry and cold and the snow has the weeds tamped down for good vision. Anybody else cut brush in the winter?

It make sense to me as you said, no weed or growing leaves to block your view. Neighboring land to me has a logger the past few weeks trimming out his over grown in fence lined fields, D-6 and saw cutters can clearly see what they need to complete task.

I do most of my brush cutting in the winter, mainly because my hunting land is often wet and I have to wait for it to freeze up. But there are other benefits as well, better visibility, less vegetation to deal with.

Snow has settled but still about 16" so it'll be another month or two. More snow coming tonight.

Winter is the perfect time to get at the bushes in soft wet ground that winter makes firm.

I like doing tasks like this with a minimal amount of snow on the ground just so when i go in at the end of the day i dont have to take as long checking for ticks.

Ticks have been legion here as of late = tick check evening and morning up and down. As a tick specialist said - "they go where the sun don't shine"

Brush cutting, logging, anything that involves woods work is done in the winter months for me as much as I can. Don’t get as hot is one reason. But my main reason being I can get poison ivy driving down a country road with the windows down! [emoji23] okay maybe a little exaggeration there but ya catch my drift!
