To my surprise the issue of Consumer Reports that arrived yesterday announced a recall of RTV-X s sold between June 2015 and June 2017 due to a seatbelt defect, and to call 800 752 0290 for a free repair or contact local dealer. They recommend people stop using their vehicle immediately.

The JD recall involved a sudden loss of steering.

The brackets need to be exchanged for heavier ones where the seatbelts attach to the machine. there are 4 of them including new self locking nuts. Takes about half an hour.

My 2017 RTV X1120 is out of the serial number range by 100 or so. Sounds like no big deal anyway.

If you are like most of our customers and don't use the seatbelts anyway it certainly is no big deal to you, but it is to Kubota! I did this upgrade on one last week and the customer had taken the seatbelts out. I had to find them in his shop and reinstall them and he said he would take them off again once I left! I still had to install them though!

I understand this is lawyer driven. I know Kubota has to CYA in this situation. My 1120 will run 29MPH. It’s much faster than my old RTV 500 and it’s a torque monster. It will pull hills in high range just off idle the RTV needed low range wide open

I've had that happen too.

What an owner doesn't realize is that if he sells it, and the belts are uninstalled, and if for some reason a new owner gets hurt or worse in an accident, the previous owner can be held liable.

And if he trades it in the dealer who then resells it is liable if it isn't repaired! ( That is the same for emissions equipment too)
