I guess this is an appropriate time to mention that your trusty 30-06 will do a way better job at killing the deer in your crosshairs when it actually has a round chambered.... and after the first “click” it work better if one has inserted the loaded magazine which is residing in one’s nice warm wool coat pocket, as to avoid the second “click” after working the bolt as the deer stands there and giggles, as if it knew. That’s a one time mistake.

I haven't had that happen but I did miss a deer at 40 yards or so. I had 2 management tags in my pocket and had just dropped a doe at 100. The doe that was with it started walking towards me while I'm trying to reload my muzzleloader with her looking right at me. By the time I got it primed I was such a mess I should have passed on the shot but all evidence pointed to a clean miss so I guess it turned out ok.

Doe fever haha
Buddy and I were pushing through a swamp deer hunting. We were about 50 ft apart. He signaled me to stop. Saw him raise his rifle, take aim with his bolt action rifle. Watched him cycle the action and take aim again. Cycle the action, then aim again. He did this till the gun was empty but never fired a shot  Then he got mad because he kept missing it :p I told him he needed to look at his ammo laying on the ground :D

That’s bizarre. Took a friend to the range to make sure his rifle was on after missing a deer at 50 yards opening morning. Missed completely at 100 yards, then 50. So I pulled the bolt right out and did the rough “peek down the barrel, get the bore on the target and check the scope routine”. It was on and should’ve been on paper. Then I looked at his ammo. A half box of .270.... I thought “weird I thought this ruger american was a .30-06”. Looked at the barrel, and yup.... he was shooting .270 through his 06. As most of us know a .270 is a necked down 06, will chamber and will fire. Cleaned the barrel, inspected the barrel thoroughly, threw one of my proper 30-06 rounds in the gun and low and behold it was on. Unbelievable .

My buddy had gotten a major case of buck fever. He thought he was shooting at it, but was neglecting to pull the trigger :D

I bought a Honda EU2000 rather than an off brand to make sure I had a generator that would start when I needed it. Always kept fresh gas and oil in it and started it every month or so and ran it a while. One time I went to start it and it took a few pulls but started and it ran like crap. I shut it off, added more fresh gas, it started right up but still ran rough. Took the plug out and cleaned it but it didn't need it, sprayed some starter fluid in it and it started right up but continued to run rough. About to the end of my rope when I noticed it was on ECO, a feature that conserved fuel until a load was on it. Flipped the lever back to normal run and all was good with the world of Honda again.

Way back then I went to a Photography school in Santa Barbara California I had a good experience with a old guy I saw taking pictures on the beach.
He was looking through the lens on his old range finder camera .
I stopped and asked how are your pictures coming out?
He said he could not see a thing but hoped the pictures would turn out

He said he was touring around and was still on the first roll, and he would be soon leaving on a long ocean cruise to the south Pacific.
I showed him how to operate the camera properly, he insisted on getting my name and address.
Maybe 8 month later he sent me some pictures of Hula girls and said there were only blurred eye ball pictures on the first half of the roll.

Got a strange look when I walked into an A&W and ordered a double whopper and fries.

This one's actually tractor related! I am a little OCD when it comes to getting ready to start and after shut down - maybe it comes from my pilot checklist days. Anyway I always set the little yellow stopper on my gas container's cap somewhere I don't have to worry about dust/dirt exposure after fueling.
Well the bonehead move I made was to set it on top of the tractor's gas cap, and after fueling I promptly replaced The gas cap on my tractor just in time to notice the yellow stopper falling into my tank. As I watched the bubbles come to the top and the yellow cap sink so did my stomach. As with all poor judgment calls, I made a few more before backing off and thinking about it. I tried to fish it out with a coathanger first, then tried to siphon gas out of the tank to empty it so I could get the stopper. I only learned how to do a shake siphon after several mouthfuls of diesel fuel.
Had a poor night of sleep thinking of gas tank removal, $ to have the dealer so it, etc. Slept on it a second night and finally got a slim spring grabber (the one that opens when u push on it and closes when you release it) and a endoscope camera and had it out pretty quickly. Duuhhhhhhh.

When I was working for the post office at one point I was driving a right hand drive toaster. Well this one day I was delivering on the Bedford highway, a very busy street and stopped on the side of the road at a CMB, without thinking I grabbed the mail and jumped out of the truck put my key which were attached to the loop on my pants in the lock and out of the corner of my eye noticed the truck driving away with no one in it. It went right across the 2 lanes up over a curb and rested up against a telephone pole. Felt like I won the lottery it didn't hit anyone or another vehicle not to mention feeling like a total moron.
