Howard rotovator

I am looking at a 48 inch Howard rotovator, is an L3010 powerful enough to run it? I've read 1 HP/inch of rototiller width.

I have a 60 inch Howard rotovator that I use on my L3240 which is essentially the same tractor you have. You have more than enough HP. I have had mine since 1997 and it is still going strong. For best results plow with a disc or all purpose plow before rotovating and make sure the soil is dry. If the soil is not dry you will end up with a lot of dirt clods. .

I believe there are parts available. I broke the shaft on mine when I hit a stump. When I say shaft I mean the shaft that the tines are connected to across the width of the implement. I priced a new one and it was over a thousand dollars. A local machine shop repaired it for me for less than $400. It works like new. I think the failure was caused by the slip clutch not functioning properly due to poor maintenance on my part. I repaired the slip clutch. Since this incident I store the implement inside to keep the slip clutch free of rust.
