L2350 white smoke

I am new to this forum and new to diesel engines, I have a couple of gas burner Fords but no diesels so I'm not sure what to do. It seams when the tractor sets overnight it doesn't want to start, it puffs a lot of white smoke, after I get it started it will then start again just fine. I think white means unburned fuel, but am I flooding it or maybe the injectors are leaking as it sits or maybe something else. THANKS MUCH

you are correct.....white typically means unburned fuel. AS for starting, glow the plugs longer, see if this helps.

Are you using the correct starting procedure? Are your glow plugs working?

Bad glow plugs or circuit, Low cylinder pressures, Bad injectors, any or all of these could cause your problems.

I had to replace the start switch and had to leave the glow plug circuit out, did not use kubota switch, I thought glow plugs were only needed in cold weather it was 60 degrees here yesterday. Maybe I can figure out how to put the circuit back with the switch I have if this will help THANKS

Glow plugs are like coffee to humans.....even on warm days, you still might need a glow/cup to get started

I have 2 - b7100's, both of them will laugh at me IF I do not glow them in 90 F weather!!! I hit them for 5 seconds and poof - maybe a little smoke, but runs perfectly after that first turnover. Without the glow.....spin, belch smoke, spin, fire, smoke etc.....

You ought to get the "kubota" switch on the tractor - will save you some huge headaches down the road!

Is it white only during startup or while operating? Sweet smelling?

white only on startup its not antifreeze, once running there is no smoke only a little blue when you throttle up. I'm thinking i need to get the glow plugs back in the circuit THANKS

I think using a switch not designed for a pre heat or glow plug operation is unwise.

The operators manual on kubotabooks.com does not have a wiring diagram but the illustration around the various key positions implies a glow indicator.

Having the glow indicator properly connected to the GP circuit is important. This happens at the key switch.

Common misconception, glow plugs are used everytime you start.
There are two paths to the glow plugs.
One path through the glow circuit that is only energized when you turn the key to glow position, this is for cold weather extra heat.
The second path is energized when you put the tractor in the crank position, as the starter is turning, it's also heating the glow plugs.
So yes having a non stock switch can cause the circuit to not work properly.
And FYI: the glow indicator will only light (lamp model) or glow (filament model) when you have the key in the glow position not the crank position.
