Just finished a search and it appears every one here except one person used genuine Bota oil in the engine and nobody uses a fleet guard or other filter.

Some of the prices paid to the dealer for service I sure can't hardly believe. five quarts of oil and filter and the charge is over $100.00 should have taken the tractor to the local dodge dealer and said it was a hemi and got 5qts oil and filter and done for $30.00, cripe even a cummins oil change with filter and 12 qts. oil isn't over $50.00.

Not that you have to, most use the Kubota brand till warranty is up, even though if you use something else - it should be still covered, assuming the oil and filter MEET the spec set by Kubota.

WHY not go buy 5 quarts (or whatever the L takes) at the dealer and a new filter? Total should be less than $50 - and do it yourself!

Most change the oil and filters themselves - it is easy and saves a few bucks to boot!

I guess you took it too the dealer instead of doing it yourself? Most of the tractor owners do the maintenance but use the Kubota products to do so.
My 50 hour cost me about $150 for everything required at that interval.
The dealer price to do it was over $400.

Five quarts oil, Shell Rotella T5, 10W-30, semi synthetic, 80 cents...

One Fram XG8a, 80 cents...

My oil change?

$1.60...

Oil was $12.50 for 10 quarts, 2 1/2 gallons, bought two,
$5 store discount on $25 purchase,
$10 rebate on each, $20 total,
I paid $3.20 in tax for 5 gallons...

Filter was from a store closing..

Holy smokes, Al - where is that place?!?!?:eek::confused:

I could drive 300 miles one-way for that change and still be ahead! My last 8 quart 0w-20 change on my gas truck was $84.

Seriously - like the other guys said - - I buy Shell Rotella T6 5-40 for ~ $22/gallon (tractor takes 3.1 qts) at TSC. Buy my filter at Kubota dealer for ~$11.

A little of my time and $30 is an oil change....your L will be more, but still guessing less than $50 for a DIY.

HST and hydraulics, a little different.....Kubota SUDT2 is pricey, but well-worth it in your tractor. That is easy-peasy also.

I strongly suggest you stay with Kubota filters all-around.

Use the oil you get from the local farm supply for diesels and the same viscosity. Period. There is nothing sacred about Kubota oil except high price.

Just about any Chrysler Dodge dealer in SE Michigan will do the Cummins for about $50.00. The high priced service tec's don't do it they use the low paid service in training porter people. Same with the gas engine changes, and if you watch dealers will run specials, just be prepared for you need a new cabin filter, and more hawking.

I do all my own changes, my bota is a gear so no hydro oil needed.

At that price on the Cummins service, you can bet they are using low cost, crappy oil and technicians that may or may not remember to tighten everything and put all the oil in. Your gear drive still has hydraulic oil in it.
