I cannot get the transmission filter to loosen up and come off. I have destroyed it in the process so the option of just leaving it in place is no longer available. It is the HH670-37710 filter. (suction filter) The one on the right side of the tractor that is parallel to the direction the tractor moves.

The other filter was easily accessible with a oil filter wrench.

I've tried several other types of wrenches to no avail. As a last resort, punched a big screw driver through it. It seems as if someone must have pulled a trick on me and used some liquid nail to seal it.

Is it time to get out my sawzall?

PS, tried a strap wrench with a 1/2" drive. No good.

Now if you have moved to the screwdriver method.....you are damn near out of options!
Can you place the screwdriver closer to the threads? That way the metal has less to give and twist? Maybe two screwdrivers?

Whoever placed it on - did not pre-grease the gasket!

Who doesn't want to know how it finally worked out.

Used a 15/16" drill to go completely through the filter.
Had a large Philips that would go all the way through.
Had a large diameter box wrench that added a lever length of about 14".
Was able to get the filter to finally move.
Had to repeat the drill procedure 4 more times until I was able to get 1/2 of a turn, then I could use the already drilled holes from the other side. Another 1/4 of a turn and it is finally off.

There's gotta be a better way.

Put a little grease on the gasket of the new filter and it'll come off easy next time. Kubota must put those on dry! They are often very difficult to get off! I had a real fight with the HST filter on a SVL75-2 today!

I actually went through the middle of the filter so I would be sure not to damage the attachment threads. I could only get 1/8 of a turn for each hole I drilled, but the filter medal remained intact on each hole, probably because I used a large diameter screwdriver.

Thanks for the time you took to respond!

John - - glad you got it!

Seems every new filter has been a bear for me to get off lately. Makes me careful to lube up the gasket for the next one.

Worst was a new Harley Davidson Super Glide - tight as hell (probably dry when installed), and not much room to get at it......took a while, but I prevailed!

My BX2360 oil filter was tight, but no where near that motorcycle!

When I did the 50 hour service on my B2650HSDC the HST filters were not bad but the oil filter was a hassle. Where they put it is bad enough but they covered it up with wires and hoses so you have very little room and leverage to get it off. Hopefully I remembered to oil the gasket, I know I did on the HST filters but with all the hassle of getting it off I can't recall if I did the oil filter. Guess I will find out next oil change.

Sounds like it's a similar spot to my BX.

If so, I've found the plier-type filter wrenches work best for me.

Fit right up along frame-rail and under the wires, etc. to grab the filter. Don't have to take the side cowling off to get at it.

Give that type a try.

Here is what I made years ago for these problems. You tap it onto the filter for indents. Then drill the holes for the points. Works every time. If you finally have left only the base plate, you still can get it off. The points are welded on a piece of pipe. A big bolt is on the other end.
