Purchased an ebay 35amp mini 1 wire alternator, drill bottom hole out with 1/2" bit and top with a smaller bit (dont remember exact size) just enough to cut threads out so top bolt will slide on. remove old alternator. Add a nut about 1/4" thick to bottom bolt before sliding on. Slip on alternator on bottom then tap top bracket down a tad till hole lines up then stick belt on and then reinstall shield/nuts onto bolts. run power to starter power and lead off headlight wiring to top cross spade connector and done. $56 and works great. I rewired my tractor for a newer style kubota switch with glow plug hold on one side and am very happy overall with redoing it all. Starts a millions times better!!!

Some current GM vehicles use Denso alternators rather than Delco.

All the existing regulator wiring would just be taped off. The one wire from the new alternator to the battery terminal on the starter solenoid.
Some consideration for a non charging warning is likely necessary.
A voltmeter or a solid state voltage monitor as on some riding mowers.

Yes a one wire alternator will work for just about any application.

This is the smallest and cheapest Denso one wire I have seen. 35 amps, $53.

This indicator is completely independent of the alternator so no complicated wiring. Also, you get to see the battery voltage while the engine cranks and get warned of pending problems with battery or starter.
My friends Buick Lucerne uses a Denso alternator much to my surprise. I expected any GM product to use a Delco but no longer.
