A dealer replaced the clutch. I bought it because they couldn't get the PTO to engage and stay engaged properly. Can the one way shaft assembly be removed once the clutch pack is removed?

On the GF models the PTO case is on the front of the front axle and both the clutch and the one way clutch are in the same case.

Before opening it up make sure the input shaft is spinning, and then on removal make sure all the splines and couplers are good.

I am having the same issue, sometimes it engages some times it does not. Where is the clutch located? I am new to lawn tractors in general, I bought a house and it came with a g1800 with a 48 inch deck. Would like to get this fixed because it is quite frustrating.

I know this thread is a number of years old but know we have experts here and need your help. My GF1800 engaged the pto fine, then I disengaged a couple minutes later reengaged and absolutely nothing. I took the PTO apart today day gound the clutchpack looked ok. I then noticed very fine metal particles at the bottom of the case. I noticed that when I spun the aft one way clutch spline it dpun both ways. Prior to taking the pto apart i confirmed the mid shaft between hydraulic pump and pto shaft both spun. I confirmed after removing pto case that splines on the pump to pto shaft are fine. Is the spinning both ways on the one way clutch shaft the issue. Cant figure out how to rrmove the bearings on that shaft without damaging them? Thanks!!!
