New L3301 Questions

Merry Christmas to me. I just got my new L3301 with LA525 and BH77. Nice machine. Dealer delivered all assembled, and after the holidays I can follow up with him, but that seems like so long to wait with a new machine at the barn. So here goes a couple of dumb questions:

(1) The manual and the warning stickers on the tractor state that the 3-point hitch control must be in the lowest position to prevent damage with the backhoe attached The machine was delivered in the maximum top position. Everything seems fine, so I'm guessing that the critical part of this is to not attempt to operate the hitch with the BH in the hydraulic circuit. Any guidance on this?

(2) Wanting to try the three point hitch, I disconnected the BH, but the 3-point hitch won't operate. OK, so I'm sure the 3-point hitch lowering speed adjustment is the LOCK position, which probably addresses concern #1. BUT this valve will not rotate. Is there some trick to it? How stiff should it be?

1) you are correct. You just don't want to try operating the 3pt hitch while the hoe is connected.

2) those valves can be tough to turn sometimes if it's anything like the two machines I've had. Spray the threaded rod where it goes into the rear with penetrating oil and see if it will turn (are you turning it in the correct direction?).

And you really don't know for sure if it all the way in or all the way out! If the TPH won't lower it is likely all the way clockwise, but?

Maybe patience is a virtue. Wait until the dealer goes over the details of the machine. Don't guess and hope and try!
