Picked up a 2011 BX1860 a few months ago. Main use will be mowing once the landscape is finished and maintaining the 300 foot driveway and eventually snow removal once I’m not working out of town so much.

Finally got some time to build a few things. First project was a drawbar for moving the trailer around the yard easily. Pretty straight forward. Made it so it will be quick hitch compatible in the future. Might add some tow hooks or shackle mounts in the future as well.

Second project was a set of front weights. I spent about $65 in total for the steel and a hot plate. I am melting down lead wheel weights and filling five steel boxes (4”x10”x6”). You can see one next to the hot plate. Once full I will weld on the cover which can be seen mounted on the weight bracket in the photos. The top and bottom are made up of 1/4”x4”x10” plate. Weight of the empty box is about 15lb without the handles that will be on the top. Packing weights in I can get about 22lb of lead. Melting them down and pouring the lead and metal clips I am up to 48lb of lead. I may run out of lead wheel weights so I am filling them all to about 45ish pounds until I source more wheel weights. If I can’t find more I will top them off with sand and weld on the covers and be in the 60-65lb range each. If I can source more wheel weights I will be in the 80-85lb range from rough calculations.

I will update once I finish the project.

Thats a real nice build there,, and if you want to get rid of all that scrap lead in the form of wheel weights, or other forms. you can just send it to me. I mean after all, we dont want you to turn the GWN in to a lead filled toxic waste site now do we
Im sure I can find some way to ahhhh dispose of all that nasty nasty lead ;)

That is a great build for sure. I have one observation. Maybe I am not seeing it right but it looks like you have just one bolt on each side of the plate, holding it to the tractor frame. I would add an additional bolt on each side above the existing ones. I think that with all the weight that you will be loading on the plate that it may stress the tractor frame if you leave it with just one bolt on each side.

I’ve got 4 bolts in total holding on the weight bracket. 2 are below the large gusset.

I’m not sure about that one. I don’t have the valves or the loader so I don’t see a loader in my near future to test it out. I would like to have one tho haha.

I assume you bought your wife new pots for Christmas!!!

Nice build and a good use of old weights.

85Hokie, I cannot tell if you are joking about the FEL or not. There is no FEL on that one. No loader frame, no joystick, none of the loader hardware.

If you were joking just to see who caught it, I did!

Shoot! I just caught the post below yours.

Managed to fab up the handles for each weight. It’s been too cold to melt down any lead and I’m still trying to source more lead weights.

Tacked on the cover to one weight to test it out.

Also finished my new fab table.
