my l3800 has consistently had a problem for a while where it runs great then loses power runs rough sometimes stalls then runs fine, no problem with fuel getting to filter it runs full flow. I have run at least 5 tanks of fuel with power service additive and changed the filter 4 times. What is the little knurled knob where the fuel return line comes from injectors, it appears to adjust a needle valve could this be part of problem. Also why can't i find a shop manual for this tractor, is that privileged information for Kubota Technicians?

What Teg points out is the bleeder valve - just as you mentioned, when you run out of fuel and need to bleed the system. No needle valve under, just allows air to escape.

How about the air filter, have you checked that by chance? How long does it run then run poorly after running fine? Have you removed the fuel tank filler cap, it could be a vapor lock.

As far as I can tell the L3400, L3700SU and L3800 are the same running gear. The L3800 is wearing a new Sunday dress.

If your tractor runs rough after it is under a load, it could be starving for fuel. Check that your water separator is in correctly. If upside down, fuel will flow over the top and it will run great until it's under a load for a period of time. It will starve the resevor and start to run rough.
