My 18 year old son has obviously gotten some appreciation for old cars.....sent me this picture from college this morning while in traffic.

Is it a REAL 1968 Shelby GT500KR convertible?

Or is it Memorex....ie. re-badged???

Wish I knew....If it is real , it's worth a lot of $$$$.

Wish I was there to hear it running....that may have told the story!

My son has been exposed to special antique and classic cars through my volunteer position on the Board of Trustees of the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich, New York.

We had a real Shelby GT500 Fastback in the Museum before, and he remembered that car from several year ago.

He was taken by that car then....obviously, it stuck! [emoji3]

That clone word has kinda disappeared. Now they are called Tributes.
Doesn,t sound as sleazy as clones. LOL
However, the owners do still watch to much Barrett Jackson, and think they have 1 of a kind collector car that is worth a crazy amount of cash.;)

I'm thinking not original also - but we'll never know without a once-over like skeets said.
All these are as-advertised:

The yellow Buick GSX behind the GTO is a rare car. Think it was a 455:

And I'm the last guy to toot the MOPAR horn, but when was the last time you saw dual quads with a cross ram intake like this?

I had never seen this setup before, and was amazed by it. I think early '60's Chrysler convertible. Beautiful car - Black/Black top/red interior.

That cross ram manifold, dual quad motor was a monster. When you floored it, the barometric pressure in the surrounding three counties would drop.

Think it was a 440-6 pack. That’s why we had hood up, if I remember right.

The 6 pack was 3 two barrel carbs. (and the barometer would drop in only two counties)

As a hobby drag racer, it still holds true. A B or RB Mopar wedge has a sound all it's own. Lot of times the B and RB sound the same, since a lot of locals seem to be building the B engines into big strokers.

But the same can be said of quite a few different engines from SBF's to SBC's to BBC's to Modulars to Coyotes...etc.

An FE Ford certainly has an interesting sound too, unfortunately not a lot of them left around these days.

Local guy has TWO really low mile original GT500's one is a KR. He bought one brand new and his brother bought the other, then died in 'nam a year after. Every once in a while he'll drag it out of the shop, load it into the trailer and go to the local drag strip. More for show than anything but when I see one or the other it's almost instant wood. Well maybe not, but you get the idea. I want to say his brother's car has under 2500 original miles on it. Guy who owns both of them is a nationally known carburetor builder who builds a lot of Holley 4100 stuff and a bunch of Q-jets for super stock and stock racers. Nice guy and I always enjoy talking to him at the drag strip. He's not real talkative but when he does, if you're smart you listen.
