Last one of the year. I really needed the peace of an evening on stand...diagnosed with a tough lifelong illness a few weeks back (treatable) and to be one with the Midwest freezer tonight was magical! And I got the deer dragged, gutted, and loaded for home in record time! -4° and dropping!!!

Blessed with a 15pt week into season! 1st time posting a picture so if it isn't right sorry.

Mine has not gone as planned but the rut should kick off this week so I am hoping it ends better than it started. Missed a doe mid November then lost a doe mid December. I hunt trad only so I don’t expect to kill too much lol. Headed to camp Wednesday for another week but I hope it warms up some. Not equiped to hunt in 18 deg weather down here.

I have very few deer on camera the past month, seems most of them left at the beginning of December especially the bucks. Still have to the end of January to hunt and the rut should start soon so maybe something will show up lol.

Don't feel bad skeets, this area used to be loaded with deer, people used to come from the mainland and the states to hunt here, lucky if you see a track now. I'm just lucky I have friends with hunting camps I can go to but even there I've noticed a decline in the last 4 to 5 years. All we can do is hope for a turn around in the deer herd here but I doubt it'll be in my lifetime.
