Wondering what size it can handle the best... 4, 5, or 6 ft??

What size are you using and would you recommend that size?

The rule of thumb is 5hp per foot. I bought a 4 footer with my BX2370 (23HP) at the recommendation of my dealer.

4' ....same as your bucket wide - any more, and you'll be spinning unless taking very small passes:)

I went with the LandPride BB1254, at 54” it is a little wider but have had no issues with my 25D or 23s pulling it fully loaded with class 5. I think the 60” would be pushing it.

I got a landpride BB1248 for my L174 - it's 46" across the outside of the back tires, turf tires, no weight in the tires, no diff lock.

gravel and dry dirt I can move anything (so far) without issue, going forward. Seems I can't push as much backwards as I can drag forwards.

Mud is a lot tougher..heavier and less traction. I'm trying to fill/slope an area where horses come in and out..so it's 8" deep mud. Haven't got stuck stuck, but spinning one wheel isn't yard. Chains might help, or ag tires.

I've not 'plowed' with it, that's tonight (just got the blade saturday)

I bought the 4'. At times when full, it has stopped me in my tracks. I also went with the Landpride BB1248, a little more heavy and robust.

Got a good deal on a 5ft JD Frontier box blade, very heavy duty, to pull behind my bx23. Couldn't do much more than light grading before the tractor lost traction, even in 4wd. Not sure if the problem was the blade width, or the colour, but ended up trading it for a 4ft Landpride which works really well, not sure if this is because it is not as wide, or because it is almost the right colour.

compared to?
The county line is wimpier and more expensive..
The everything attachments is a bit more and better/heavier

landpride also has an BB0548 - much heavier and more money.

All depends on what you plan to do with it - commercial vs home is one, HP of tractor is another - a big honkin tractor can trash the lighter grade blades.

The 1248 is ~320lbs - you (i anyway) can manhandle it around off the tractor. Many BB's run 400, 450 lbs.

My tractor's specs say it weights 1400-1900 (depending on where I look it up) - and it has 24" (rim) tires and a good sized wheel base..and I can get some serious bounce when I lift the empty BB1248 quickly. And this with a 3pt capacity of 1350 lbs (so they say...would definitely need front ballast for that).

If you have a loader then a heavier/bigger BB might be OK.

Thanks everyone looks like I need a heavy duty 4 footer. I’m not commercial but pretty hard on my BX25, twisted the Dipperstick and popped the welds down it once.
