How is S-UDT2 easier on parts??? It is NOT slicker, it does not protect better, it does not have any magic dust in it that makes it "easier" on parts!!! It pours with a much lower viscosity it does not break down as easy - and it works on a smaller molecular level.

Have to agree. A fella, or the media, can make someone else's words sound like anything they want by taking those words out of context.

Problem with alternatives is that generally aren't the same. I am not naïve enough to think that Kubota makes oil, and they have no secret lock on oil for tractors. No wand, no fairy dust, no magic: it's oil. It has very specific chemical properties. They source it from an oil company, just like Chrysler and every other manufacturer that sells their branded oil. The trick is finding the same spec oil in a "cheaper" brand. I have found is that when you match oils spec for spec, the price usually about the same.

The bucket that the cheap stuff comes in says "compatible with Kubota..."

Compatible doesn't mean it's the same thing. It means that whoever makes the bucket of oil in question says it's compatible.

Equivalent also does not mean the same thing. I generally don't get too involved with oil threads because they go nowhere, BUT let me share a quick story. When I bought my first place I had NO money ($37 in all of my accounts). Truck needed an oil change and it's about $100 to do it. I couldn't afford the good oil. I was at the tractor supply store and they had some house brand stuff, IIRC, $2/quart on sale. Grabbed 16 of them and a filter and went home. Dropped old oil, grabbed new bottle and opened it up, just happened to look down inside the bottle and seen JUNK in the bottom of the bottle. Knowing that I couldn't afford to go buy 16 more quarts of good stuff, and now that the old oil is already out, I'm stuck. Poured the old stuff back in and drove back to TSC, gave the manager the opened bottle, told him to look inside. He says "ewwww". We went out back and he poured the old stuff into a waste oil container and used a magnet to pull that garbage out of the bottom of the bottle. Ain't no way I was pouring that stuff into an expensive diesel. Filter would probably catch it but I still wasn't taking a chance.

It's cheaper for a reason.....always remember that. There is always some reason that something's cheap, usually means it didn't cost as much to make it.
