Is there a source for aftermarket parts for bushhog brand cutters? I have a 3008 that needs a set of chains for the back of the cutter. Bush Hog is very proud of theirs.

Thanks

I found a pic of one online. It looks like a standard link chain you could probably get in bulk at a hardware store. Do you just need a bunch of short lengths of chain that slip over the bar that holds them on, or does the bar and chains come as an assembly?

If you buy it from bush hog it comes as a complete assembly. There are 2 side pieces and 1 back piece.

I guess I could buy the bar and add the chain myself.

Just curious, what do they want for a set of chains?

I had a double row put on the front of my 3008 when I bought it and they were only $500 installed.

As far as aftermarket goes you might look at a local machine shop. Winter time coming on they might be slowing down and want a little side job like that. It would be easy to make with the right tools.

Something to think about. Seeing that people sue for everything a homemade set could be twisted around by a lawyer and you'd be held liable if someone got hurt. Since it's a safety issue may be worth the money to get the factory parts and CYOA.
