Coming home from dropping the kid off for a birthday party and saw this sitting on the side of the road,
it was right were our dirt road hits the main County Road.....

Turns out to be a re-bar cutter / bender, The Original Willard Cutter-Bender since 1958 (http://willardcutterbender.com/)
Not wanting to see clutter along our roads, I picked it up !! :D

Don't have much use for a re-bar bender, but may come in handy for other fab projects,
or maybe a CraigsList item, time will tell. Should I paint it ORANGE ?? LOL

Som poor contractor lost it. Isn't thee some way you cam get a sign out there and it might be a way for the owner to come back and look for it. How about an ad in the lost and found?

I'm on the side of: "finders keepers, losers weepers" :D
Absolutely :D Found several cool things laying in the middle of the road. Favorite is a Hilti angle grinder. Also found a weed eater, 4 ft pry bar, tons of ratchet straps, and other knick knacks :D

I called the landscaping company that lossed the weed eater since I saw it bounce out of there trailer rack. The Hilti and other tools were in the middle of the road with no one around :D

That's not counting tools that I have found in my rental equipment. On the equipment with cabinets, I run a heavy magnet around the spill containment. I find pliers, hammers and other tools quite often. :D Those go into a separate small tool box at work labeled shop tools :D

Well that worked out well, I posted on our local community Facebook page last night.

This AM I had six replies, four could not tell me the color of the item
(just Google it, they are either red or yellow, I figure the odds be 50/50 !),
one when I asked what it was mounted to,
said what do you mean? the last never responded to my reply.

I called the only local concrete contractor and they are all good, did not loose anything.

I am guessing this may have come off a truck up here from The Springs (Colorado Springs),
I ain't calling every concrete contractor down there! :p

I will put it to use somehow. :D
Unles I can find the REAL owner, not some greedy yahoo. :p

If that Hilti grinder is red and says 'HILTI' on it, I think its mine.:D

I have to say the best thing I have found on the road was a Husky hard hat with ear muffs and face screen. Right in the middle of the road and I could see for at least 3 mi either direction----there was no one. I have used it religiously since then and if I'd not found it I'd probably never would have bought one.

I have found a few things on the road or shoulder- 2ft laser level in case, (works) set of hole saws in case, 250ft roll of #8 bare copper wire, to name a few.
But if you want to really score, cruise the sand dunes early Saturday or Sunday morning after all the drunks party & dune bash the night before. I have picked up literally hundreds of hand tools, spare tires, vehicle parts & accessories, ice chests & gas cans, (usually full) flashlights, camping gear, wallets, loose money, tow straps & chains, a high lift jack, offroad lights, jackets, goggles, hats, (2) complete tool boxes, etc, etc,- well you get the idea. I keep the best stuff for my use, and garage sale the rest. Usually paid for one dune trip per year.

I went to a party one time in a quarry. Arrived with a six pack. Buddy was complaining about someone stealing his beer out of his truck. Got home and cleaned out my tool box. Found a case of beer plus 4 left in my 6 pack :D Come to find out I had parked next to his truck. They were almost the same color. He stashed his beer in the wrong truck :D:D

Didn't find these on the road but have to share. I heard a weird sounding bird and I thought "I can make that sound so I did and here comes a cockatil, it landed on my barn and I coaxed it to get on my finger. Tried to find the owner, put the word out and lost and found on the radio. Lady ca me out but it was not hers so after a couple of weeks no owner showed so I gave it to the lady that lost her bird.
At a swamp party in Florida when I was a kid, drinking beer and being young, looked up and saw a knife stuck in the tree as high as I could reach. It was an Arkansas Toothpick and by the looks of it had been there for years. Took it home cleaned it up and discovered it had a Soligen steel blade from Germany. Still have it and it sharpens with little effort.

Some neat finds I too have picked up some items over the years.

Worked on a golf course during the summer cutting grass while in high school. Best time to work was on Sunday morning, by late Saturday the frustration had built up as well as the alcohol and throwing things and forgetting things was popular. Once found 3 clubs in one tree, guess one was thrown in tree and then 2 more trying to knock it down. Over the 4 summers found a full set with bag.

Best find was late one night about 11:30 I was staining a entertainment center I built when I heard a crash in road front of house.

Walked around to see what it was and (2) 28' extension ladders lay in the road. Fearing someone would hit them I pulled off road and leaned next to tree 6' tops from white line. Knowing driver would circle block to get them stood there to help him load them. No one came by for next hour so I moved them closer to house where they stayed for 4 days in plain sight.

Years later I still have them only damage was some road rash and one leg bent slightly not enough to be unsafe.

I was on I-10 early one Sunday morning & came across a 28-32ft extension ladder lying in the road that appeared to be perfect. I pulled over & made ready to grab it, as there was only one vehicle in sight. It was a semi, and he apparently did not want me to have a new ladder, because he crossed three lanes, lined up on it, and squashed it flat while blowing his horn.

I have found at least a half dozen trailer hitch balls attached to the receiver. I loan them out to friends who need one and don't care if I get them back as they didn't cost me anything.

A buddy of mine found a perfectly good (other than a few scratches) Stihl string trimmer along the road once. Still using it to this day.
