Another diesel fuel question?

Called the co-op and asked if they had switched to winter blend fuel, earlier one of the employees said they switched in October. I was now told that they just had #1 and #2 and were not going to sell a blend, they suggested I mix myself. What % of each should I use if I decide to mix? If I use Power Service white does it matter if I use #1 or #2? Is #1 overkill or beneficial? Another station sold winter blend last year so I assume they will this year but they have no off road fuel pumps, so is there any reason to use their fuel? Appreciate any comments to gain more knowledge.

Why mix it?
Just use #1 in the winter and be done with it.
And there is no need to add more additives like power service to it.

Is it #1 Diesel or Kerosene? Kerosene won't have the additives for lubrication like Diesel.

Just remember #1 or Kerosene doesn't have the lubrication that #2 does. That is why it is usually blended together for a winter mix. Other option is to add a lubrication additive for the injection pump. Adding an additive is a lot cheaper than repairing an injection pump especially in newer engines.

I do not go through much fuel I run lubricity additive year round which also happens to be a anti gel called howes available almost anywhere. PS White bottle is good to. New or old machine with less sulfer in the fuel the fuel systems are taking a hit, run it whenever possible it will not hurt anything but your wallet. If you cheap in the summer look up running TC-W3 2 stroke oil in the older engines for added lubricity.

I've been to -30F a few times. My tractor is stored in an attached garage, and still use Power Service. Was snowblowing a few years ago at -8F.

Easy to say screw the additives until you gel.

My neighbors BX24 gelled a couple years ago, and he swore he'd never be without it after that. He didn't believe in similar treatment until then.

As a service guy for a railroad, he's dealing with diesels daily.

I'll call it insurance.

Is this okay? Had a few ounces of Power Service White already in fuel can, thought I could only get #2 but they had #1 so I went ahead and got the #1. Any issues with having White in #1? I figured a bit of overkill but at least I should not have any gel issues if it gets cold. And what do you guys pay for off road diesel? #1 was 2.899 and I think #2 was 2.499.

That's fine.

Like Wolfman said, not really necessary for #1, but I still use it as a "better safe than sorry" insurance policy.
