I tried to stop my newly sharpend chain with my leg,,, I didnt know I could sharpen a chain so sharp. Only 5 stitches inside and 14 outside so it aint to bad,, but I ruined a good pair of jeans that pissed me off.

Damm it Skeets! That really sucks, I know you have a great sense of humor and laugh at even this, but I am sorry you are hurt and wish you the best!
Plus you are making me think about chainsaw pants or chaps - so you are costing me money! Damm it Skeets!

The average chainsaw injury requires 110 stitches. I tell people that's the number you need to think about every time before you start your saw. So yeah, you did get off easy... and I'm happy for you! :)

Two words. Chainsaw pants. Up here $100 with tax.
We spent the day today cleaning up 14 big willow trees. Buddy wasnt wearing his gear but we kept area clear as he was cutting. On slip and nail a major artery and you wont make it to the truck.
That is gonna leave a mark.
Will hurt tomorrow
Glad you survived.

Skeets- best wishes my friend for a speedy recovery.
I hope the nurse trying to get you outta your pants was a pretty one...[emoji41] will make for some sweet dreams!

Chainsaws are like scooters...gonna happen sometime. Glad you’re okay!

Best wishes, bud!

Ya know, I sat here all last night and this morning, trying to figure out what I did. Simple answer is I dont know only that for one second my head was some pace it should not have been! And Yes it could have been a whole lot worse, somebody was watching out for me, if you believe in that sort of thing.
And chaps are in my future I see. though I always thought them to be a bit of over kill,, now,,ahhh not so much!

To be honest, the only reason I posted this was to maybe bring to light what can happen and how fast. And perhaps someone reading this, will think about it and not make the same mistake. People say accidents happen, they do but there is always a reason. Removing any one part of the equation and they dont happen. The part that should have been missing from this one was keeping my head where it was suppose to be,, and yeah chaps would have helped too.
Now to head to the cupboard and see whats hiding in there to take the edge of this STUPID MISTAKE
Y'all have a good one

Glad it wasn't worse.
I worked part time one summer logging for an individual building a log cabin. He was having the logs milled on 3 sides at a small sawmill owned by an 83 year old gentleman who had been everywhere & done everything. During breaks, he had tons of stories (& a few pics:eek:) of people having accidents with chainsaws & sawmill equipment. I always respected the saw, but MUCH more after his explanations of how quickly & badly things could go sideways. I can hardly pick up the saw now without a few second review of all he told me running through my head.

Skeets - I just looked at mine, and didn't see a brand, just Made in Canada. They're 30+ years old, so no help with price.

Mine are very light (Kevlar?), with button closures at the calf.

Didn't like wearing a hardhat, until a widow-maker popped me square on the noggin. My 'hat was hanging on the truck side mirror parked 100' away in the woods........

Made sure I didn't drop the saw and have it cut my toe off at the knee.

Scrambled my preserves for 20 minutes, but I was okay.

My Father told me "good thing it hit you in the head, otherwise you mighta got hurt..":eek:

Glad you got away without too much of a hurt Skeets, I have seen the results of a moment's loss of attention a few times, it can be pretty real.
I always carry blood clot bandages and a tourniquet when I'm climbing, lifesavers for sure.
Protective trousers have saved my leg in the past, as said when it goes wrong it's faster than we can react.
Anyway, you get healed asap.
