50 Hour service at 40?

Anyone think this is an issue? (I have a BX1870.)

I'd like to do it before the snow flies here. I'd also like to open her up to some higher RPMs than I have during this break-in period. I'm at 32 hours now.

50 is just a simple number, it is there as a guide.

Change the HST filter - engine/oil filter....and make sure you clean that HST screen! If you fancy the "good" stuff, change out to S-UDT2 and syn oil in crankcase too

AS for cranking it up, do so!

I did my BX2360 at 38 hours, and dumped everything including front axle.

It's not an issue. I did mine at 41.7 because it was a heavy rainy weather period and made logical sense to take advantage of the down time.

Just did mine at 49 and put another hour on playing so now officially at 50 hours and it only took 5 months, lol. Like the OP I wanted to get it done before the snow flies.

When I did dealer work, you'd be surprised how many folks would stop the tractor in the middle of the field at 50.0 hours and then call me to do a field 50 hour service. Of course it was always either in the rain or in the hot southern sunshine in the middle of August with enough humidity that it looked like London fog. Guys I worked with called it "OCD service".

It's just a guide. Service it when you want as long as you don't go too far over (like 938 hours for first service...). I have that one in my shop currently for it's 938 hour first service.

Also know the guy that bitched about the price of ethanol-free gas, then had his machine dumped from ethanol. Oh, additives were too pricey too!!

Guessed my BX2360 sat on the lot for a year or more. Wanted to get any water out before snow flew....38 hours worked for me.

Went ahead and did the 50 hour service on my 1870 at 40 hours. I got the oil and filters at a Kubota dealer closer to my house, though not the one I purchased the tractor from. Nice folks. Everything went smoothly, and I'm ready for winter. Was a bit surprised at how black the oil was after just 40 hours. Oh well, it's fresh now.

For those who can only do the service exactly at 50 hours, have to be the kind who can't celebrate a birthday, or holiday on any day but THE day! Got to be a limiting factor in life.

Run it for an hour and check your oil. It'll be just as black as the oil you just changed. Soot from the combustion process gets in the oil quickly.

I bought my 50 hour supplies around 45 hours. Didn't get it changed until about 57 hours or so. Bought 200 hour supplies at 150 hours, changed it at 177 hours. I was told, if you were under or over by a few hours, it doesn't hurt. The best advise I can give is, start a note book with tractor info(make, model, serial, etc) and write down EVERYTHING you do to the tractor maintenance wise and keep receipts in it. If it is a hard notebook, make sections for any equipment you use with the tractor and its maintenance. I was always told, a short pencil is better than a long memory. Its better to write it down, than try and remember when you did something.

When I got my tractor I noticed the filters had dates on them which I thought was a pretty good deal. I put the date on mine at the 50 hr service and also noted it in the owner's manual and kept the receipts.
