Tough decision to buy the newest model BX1880 or the older model BX2370. I can buy either one new with only a $500 difference in price. Should I go with the newer BX1880 which I *think* will have enough power or the older moddel version but still new BX2370 (100 pounds heavier and 4 more HP). I will be removing some small sapling trees, tiller work and some grading but once I am done with those projects i will only be using it to mow and push snow on a 300' driveway.

Any thoughts and help is very appreciated.

Personally, I would spend the $500 quick like and in a hurry!:D

BX2370 has more going for it than just the ponies! AND dont let it being an older model cause you any bad thoughts!:p:)

Never regret going bigger. Also if you get tired of pushing snow and go with a snowblower, you'll want the extra HP.

Just my .02

I agree with the others. Sounds like the BX1880 would do everything you want, but for $500.00 go with the BX2370

I am 110% satisfied with my 1870-1. Big hills, little hills, mowing, loader work and box blading. That being said, for $500 difference, I would have gone for the 2370. At the time, the difference in price was either $1,250 or $1,500.

Most likely, you will be very happy with either one of them. You are going to run out of traction before you run out of power. To my thinking, you MAY benefit from the additional HP at the PTO for tiller or snow blower applications. The 1870/80 will run a 54" deck off the mid PTO while running a bagger off the rear PTO with no noticeable loss of power.

Enjoy whatever you get. ;)

I will drive both tomorrow and make the decision.
Good call! They may be just enough different that a test drive may show a clear winner.

Either way, there really is no bad choice, just what works best for you.

I cut almost 4 acres of lawn, I have a four foot bush hog cut heavy grass that was over the hood in height. I have leveled out a lot of gravel in my driveway ( it pushes and picks up the bucket full no problems)
I was wondering about not going bigger but like others have said I run out of traction long before power. It has done everything I have asked and more so no regrets at all.
Oh and the loader comes off in minutes when I mow the grass and back on in minutes after absolutely love that quick attach.

For the $500 --- the Bx2370 also has larger tires too, along with that 30% increase in HP

I truly believe iF you buy the somewhat larger machine -2370, there will NEVER come a day when you say..... " I wished I had saved that $500!!"

There is nothing wrong with the 1880....but the little larger 2370 is just that, a little larger in all the right places!;):)

IF, rather when you pull the trigger....get all you can get ..loaded tires, manuals ....hat:p ....anything you can think of!:)

The list price for a BX2380 is $1900.00 more than a BX 1880, not $500.00. I bought the BX1880 because I couldn't justify that increase in price. And with the savings it was like getting the snowblower free!

No problem brother - the OP made the statement on the $500.....The newer 2380 would have to be a loooott more, cause everyone would buy a newer-larger,more powerful machine with that little increase in $$$;):)

The heavier you are the more efficient work you can perform. Unless you have some type of size limitation. Go big or stay at home. The 2370 is worth 500 bucks.....good luck.

Just want to chime in as a BX1870 owner who has no regrets about going small. The 48" deck size (which doesn't work on the 2370 due to the larger tires) was the deciding factor for me, as I've got narrow trails connecting different parts of my property. I also liked the idea of a slightly lower center of gravity since I've got lots of side slopes.

I agonized over the decision, afraid I would miss the extra power. But it's been a non issue. This is one of those situations where I don't think you can make a wrong decision.

Really? :D

Two inches longer, slightly taller tires and a smidgen more lift in the loader. Differences that really only count on paper. If one of them is too small for the job, they both are. Again, traction will be the first problem for either one and they can be ballasted to weigh the same. The only practical/useable difference is the PTO horsepower. Either you need it, or you don't. PTO driven implements will make that determination.

All that being said, for $500, I would get the 2370 unless the 1880 has new features that really struck my fancy. If they were the same series, with the normal price difference, I think the choice becomes much more interesting.

Once the tires are spinning, additional horsepower has no application.
