Does anyone have any idea what would cause the 50amp fuse to blow when trying to start the tractor? It is less than a year old and has about 70 hrs on it? When I replace the fuse and turn it to accessory it is ok but when I actually try to start it it blows the fuse. I have checked the wiring at the starter, alternator, and the battery, I see no bare wire or anything that might be shorted. Could the ignition switch be bad? Would a bad starter cause it? Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked for rat damage? They can eat away at insulation and create havoc!!!

YOU have a positive hitting a ground somewhere once the starter is engaged.

50 amp! What is fused with that beast? As 85Hokie say you may have a bare wire from the ignition to the starter. Another likely cause is the starter bearings are letting the armature drag and pulling an overload.

Lift the small start wire from the starter solenoid and try again, if it doesn't blow, then you have a fault in the starter/solenoid, if it still blows, track the wire back to the switch.
