B2650 fuel filter

Service schedule says to "clean" fuel filter at 100 hours but I plan on changing the filter. Should I just wait for the 100 hours or is there any advantage of changing it at the initial 50 hours service?

Changing beats cleaning....... any day of the week!

A clean filter almost guarantees a problemless fuel delivery too!

What I might do is after I change to #1 or winter blend I will run some of that through and then change filter for a clean start this winter.

Using a different blend of diesel will have no effect on your filter, or allow a CLEANER start for winter.

You are overthinking this project!!

Some of us who are both paranoid and have OCD, and live in a cold climate, look at all the posts from folks that have clogged fuel lines from algae or what have you, and think I sure as heck don't want to have to fool with this tractor when it gets cold out. So we change fuel filter etc in the fall. My pet theory is the bacteria live at the interface between water and diesel. One place this happens is the fuel tank, but the water separator (if present) and fuel filter is another. So easier to change filter once a year at least.

My B2650 is due now as well. Did I read in the manual that the tank should be below a half a tank before to take the old filter off? And be out in the gravel or someplace where diesel will be best captured (not your lawn or garage floor)?

Just wondering what happens when you remove that filter?

I swapped mine out on the field with a full tank of diesel. I lost a minimal amount of fuel. It even stopped coming out after a few seconds. I don't know why they emphasize half a tank. I had no major loss.

add a little power service to your #1 diesel... it cleans and lubricates the injection system. the white container also adds some anti gel properties...

Personally, I would never clean a fuel filter and replace it. If it's out, I'll put in a new one. Cheap enough, and fewer times to clean diesel off my hands.

Thanks NEPA and all. Will change it with my regular oil change before the snow flies. Predictions are an early, hard, and long Winter.

There is a check valve in the system when you pull the bowl off. I also just clamped off the line from the fuel tank and only lost what was in the bowl.

Reading another post about fuel filters reminded me of what the service guy that delivered my B2650 said. He said that when I change the filter to turn the key on for a few seconds at a time and I think he said do it 7 times or did he say 7 seconds. How do the 2650 guys do their fuel filter change? Neighbor who has diesels, trucks, backhoe, grader but no Kubotas, says that he manually fills the bowl when he changes filters. Still have some time so want to make sure I have more info on options.

Do the changing,cleaning intervals really need to be so frequent?
My tractor has over 250 hours on it now and I still haven't touched my filter.I do however fuel up at the local filling station so I don't worry too much about contamination.
