Log splitter hydraulic connection

I have a M9960 and a Wallenstein 360
log splitter. When I hook it up to the hydraulic port in the rear, it operates for approx one minute then the hydraulic lever self cancels and it no longer works. Obviously I am doing something wrong, does anyone know how to correct this situation? Thanks for your help

How many remote sets do you have on the rear?

Two, the manual shows one to be a standard double acting valve with detents and self canceling. I am not sure what the second one is, since it was an option and I am the second owner. It seems to be the same as the first. When I hook up the log splitter, I put the lever forward in the detent and it runs fine for a very short time. The lever in the cab then automatically returns to the center position and the log splitter stops.

yea, those type of valves do not work very well for a log splitter setup because when it surges it will trip the detent and cancel the valve.
You really need a controlled power loop, but it's a pain to put one in on most of these tractors.
You can make it work by using a bungee cord to hold the valve in the open position.

I am doing the same thing with my M8030 DT. I just use a bungee cord to keep it from kicking out. NIWM what is a controlled power loop,. I have not heard that term before.

A power loop is used to run something like a backhoe, it's an un-valved loop, just free flows.
A controlled power loop (or also called a motor control loop) will have a valve to turn the flow on and off.
It's a little different than the remotes because of the way the valve is setup.

I put a small block of wood on the log splitter backstop which allowed the log to split completely without fully extending the piston, fixed the problem without using a bungee.
