MX5800HST v. M5660SUHD

I am in the market for a new tractor. (See post "L3901 in the drink") My task are keeping up 33 acres of homestead that consist of overgrown underbrush, 5 acres of pasture and maintaining approx a mile of dirt and gravel roads. I also plant food plots in the fall and bushhog throughout the summer. Loader is a must for clearing brush and cleaning up downed limbs. I am down to these two models. Any guidance from some owners out there would be much appreciated. Pros and Cons of either. Which would you buy?

M5660 is quite a bit more tractor. Unless you just have to have HST for your tranny, the M5660 is the more capable machine.

I'm curious to see what others think. Comparing the specs on the Kubota home page they look pretty similar to me (but I'm a newbie to all this, so what do I know?). The L6060 also looks to me to be pretty similar in specs to these two.

From what I can tell the L6060 is the premium tractor for the L's. It is pricey but oh, so nice! I think I would be afraid to use it if I bought it. The M5660 is an awesome machine and it has a more capable loader and three point lift capacity by around 1,000 lbs. on each than the MX5800. The M5660 also weighs about 600 more pounds than the MX5800.

The MX5800 has my attention because it has HST and by adding auxiliary hydraulics and a third function and comparing that to the price and lack of HST of the M5660, I have decided to go with the MX5800. I am looking forward to delivery later this week!!! I am still interested in comments about these two tractors even though I have made my decision.

I also had an L3901 and wanted more PTO power to run a wood chipper. Thought about a MX5800, M6060, and M7060. In the end I decided on the MX5800 with the HST for the stuff I do the most and it is more than capable for maintaining my 11 forested acres.

I have had an MX5800 on my 60 acres of timber, clearings, and trails for a year. I have had no issues and am very happy with its capabilities. The one thing i wish it had is the gauge that tells you what percent your DPF is at. However the regens have been painless.

Do you like the seat? I have seen other threads that suggest that the factory seat is subpar on the MX. . I too would like to know when regen is about to happen. It seemed so arbitrary on my last tractor. Wonder if there is a plug and play adapter to give us an idea?

I have no problem with the seat but know there are better ones out there. And Im an old guy. One other thing that could be improved is location of the fuel filler tube. I ended up buying an electric diesel fuel pump from harbor freight. End of problem.

There are a number of aftermarket 'gauges'. You can even get a blue tooth adapter and run the 'gauges' on your phone.

Too late now, but I agree with MtnViewRanch. I love my L5740HSTC, but I bought it after our M8540HDC and several heavier duty tractors.
