Hi there. Just joined up today- just had my new to me 2003 BX2200 w MMM and loader delivered. Had a JD 855 before that was great, I really wanted the loader.

I'm petrified that I bought someone else's problem, but we will see. Guy at work
Asked if it was sleeved and said I needed an additive to prevent the little corrosion bubbles if it was. Now, the unit has 1000 hrs so it might be too late, but I can t seem to google my way to find out if this engine is sleeved or not. His B model is.

Looking forward to learning and loving this little thing.

Negative, even if it was a sleeved engine.
Tell your "Guy at work" he's been wasting his money on a "additive".
Kubota engines are dry sleeve engines, no bubbles to form! ;)
Kubota engines do not have any issues with coolant, even with cheap ordinary coolant. :D

Welcome to the OTT forum Shootstraight. We are glad that you joined and I am sure that you are also now.

You sure came to the right place as you can get any question answered here.

If your question has anything to do with Kubota, you can take NIW's answers to the bank.

Your 'guy at work' is referring to cavitation which occurs when small bubbles of steam form against the liner or even the block and over time erode out enough material to form a hole. Although it is most common with sleeved engines it can happen with parent bore engines to. It is a bigger problem with higher horsepower engines. For your 22hp engine I would not worry. Use a good diesel antifreeze and you will never have a problem.

Thanks again guys. Looking foward to reading and learning! Not a big mechanical guy, but I'm getting better..... didn't know anything about an internal combustion engine till I bought my first tractor- a mf135. It was fun to tinker with till it wasn't. I grew tired of tinkering w it and got a small Deere. Now my bx2200.
