What do you use a pond scoop for?

If you have a loader do you use one?

It was a common substitute for a loader, before loaders were common.

Now it is often used to increase your carrying capacity if you have to go any distance. Plus all its older uses digging and hauling.

If i had one i would use it often. Filling holes, moving dirt, digging drainage ditches. Not many in these parts. Expensive too.

I have a FEL but think I could get good use of it. They are abundant around here( E TN), pretty cheap used most of the time....

A scoop was one of the first attachments. Moving stones, soil and even fire wood.

They are pretty much "self filling" when pulling the sediment out of the pond in summer. (Great garden and top soil)

Filled, it's a fair load of wood, Plus, any load goes easy on the tractor. Not like a loader bucket at all.

Find them (not referred to as a pond scoop) around here quite frequently on CL for less then this price.

I bought one a reversible one couple of months ago for $150.

Heavy Duty 3 point Dirt Scoop - $250 (Warrensburg/Odessa)

The reversible feature is nice because you can back into a pile of material and get a load, instead of having to load while pulling forward.

I was using mine to cut an approach to my property until I hit a rock that was too big to move. I put up a sign next to it that said "Free Rock" and someone came and took it and had to cut in an approach in to get it out. I have a 30" King Kutter that I bought for $150. It's a bit much for my tractor, at least without a loader or other weight on the front. I can get it about half full and steer with the brakes.
