Hello everyone

First time post, but been using the forum for almost a year now with much help. At a loss today.

5030 hst model. Start and engine seems normal. I can love the side lever between L-m-h just fine. When I go to move it just jerks, sometimes I can barely get it to move. Loaded it on trailer and it's in my shop now. Fluid level was normal. The PTO shaft turns on fine and works with the clutch as well.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Sam

How many hours?
Was it in 4wd?
Was the diff lock engaged?

Does the tractor "jerk" in both directions? Sounds like the main clutch is slipping. The pto might still turn with nothing connected to it. With the pto engaged, try holding the pto from turning as the main clutch pedal is slowly lifted to see if it will load the engine.

Yes, slips in both directions. Will try this tomorrow.

Changed fluids and filters today and tractor behaves the same. Will update as I work on it. Thanks

Messicks took the tractor today and upon first inspection they thought the hydro has failed. Almost $7500 in repairs. ***128078;***128078;***128078;

They inspected the filters and fluid and found brass flakes, metal flakes. I had changed the oil and filters just before, so something must be bad inside.

they are tearing it apart tomorrow. WIll update with any progress.

Very sorry to hear that kind of news. HST's rarely fail but it does happen. For machines that have had regular fluid service and reasonable use, the failure rate is near zero for a long time, but no machine can last indefinitely.
As HSTs rack up high hours, reports of failure will be inevitable.
