L1802DT loss of hydraulics

Hi, Im Dave and already addicted to my orange metal. This is my first post, so please be gentle. Im based in the North Of England.

Recently prchased what I Know is a Japanese import to the UK. From what I know it was refurbished about 3 years ag by a dealer a loader fitted and sold.
Dont thnk its had anything done since.

When bought it everything worked fine. Now after cutting grass fir a couple of hours when everything is warmed up...the hydraulics stop working, 3point linkage or loader wont work.

Stop tractor leave till next day when restarted cool hydraulics work, when hot they stop working again.

So my questions, I am assuming this is possibly and oil spec / dirty filter issue, or am I barking up the wrong tree.

Now the owners manual I found on line quoted SAE 80 oil for the transmission, this feels wrong, I rang local suppliers of agricultural bits, their mechanic said to use a universal hydraulic transmission fluid, ie light oil rather than SAE80 which from memory is like gear box / diff oil for cars. So what spec of oil do you recomend.

Any pointers greatfully appreciated.

Here's a conversion chart to give you some idea how the various oil weights compare to each other. SAE 80 Gear is similar to SAE 20 motor oil with respect to viscosity.

After few hour of work the hydraulic system that pulls up and down, the mounted equipment at the back starts working slower. after some rest it starrt working properly again. the other question i have is about the leaver that operates the hydraulic, it hat 7 positions from 1 to 7 (1 for ground position and 7 for up position) is it wrong to leave it on 4-5 position and work that way????

Slow operations are usually associated with either air being introduced into the system (check for seeping leaks in the suction system) or a bad sealing ring on the three point cylinder.
If you were to leave the three point up when not running does it fall back down over time?
This is a sign of a bad cylinder seal.

Not being 100% familiar with the control on a L1802:
When you move the control lever does the three point move with it? that's called positional control, If it does, then yes you can operate it in any position without ill effects, like deadheading the pump and making it go in to relief.

I'll bet that terminology is very confusing to someone in Bulgaria.
A clearer statement might be "as the pump reaches correct pressure to attain position, the pressure is relieved and the lift-arms remain at desired position."

The position of the leaver is as you suggest for locking it in place (like in neutral) in the wanted position, so yes it's position control.
I think i saw what is the problem. the oil level is just below the minimum (the monroematic cylinder was faulty and it was leaking oil, it was like that when it came from japan they said - it was welded even - and so it was removed, i can do it's job manually anyway ) and that is the most likely reason.
But from here another problem poped up xD
i went to get some oil to refill to the designated level on the glass scale on the LH position of the gearbox ( i phoned the dealer from whom i got the tractor to ask what kind of oil i need before that) and at the market place they said to bring a litle bit of the old oil just in case so that they can see what type is it. And form here on things got F-ed up =)) i drained about a litter of the oil and it should have been yellow as the dealer suggested, but it was not xD it wasn't red either (the yellow being LVX Austromatic 10w30 and the red ATF oil). Even worse it was cloudy and more orange than yellow and at the same time too light to be red as the ATF whitch is dark read from what i can tell xD
The oil goes that way when it has water in it, but everything is sealed as it has to be so there's no way in. i have a picture of it but :/ 2-nd post cant upload still hahaha maybe after a few post ^_^
my question is what oil is better to use for the gearbox??? Most people who owe tractors suggest the 10w30 kind but some say the ATF is better. I'm asking because i'll change it completely in a day or two and i wonder which one is better.

That $*it is far gone. so new oil should fix the problem i have read that the hydraulic filter is metal and it's reusable so if i don't find a new one i'll just rince the old one whit diesel or petrol and reuse it ^_^. Will write after to tell ya if it worked
I think i'll use UTTO 10w30 oil for the job, they say i can use ATF also but personally i think that is the better choice from what i can see plus it says it works on kubotas hahah.

Do not use ATF in the hydraulics.

Check under and around the seat for the Hydraulic vent, as a plugged vent will cause issues with it collection water and holding it.

The system will condense some water after every use and on temperature shifts, but on proper warm use it will vaporize that water a purge it out of the system.

well the problem is still here :/
when i took off the filter and washed it whit petrol it starter working again for some time (he's the main suspect), so now i'll stay put until the new filter arrives.
Also is this in the picture the vent???

No, that is the 3PH rate of lowering control. The vent is farther back on the case and usually has a short rubber hose attached.

That looks more like a fruit smoothie than hydraulic fluid....

The hydraulic filter was the problem. It works great whit the new one.
just thought i let you know. It seems like, even if the filter can be used multiple times it is gone after the oil goes so bad and no matter how many times you rinse it, it's still F-ed up :/ So new one in any case
