Hey everyone
I've got an 80s model L245H and the 3pt and belly bar are having issues lifting . Under the seat where hydraulic lines start there is a pretty bad grinding noise. 3pt takes about 45 seconds to lift and it's lifts all sputtery
I'm pretty convinced I just need to replace the hydraulic pump.
Wanted to see what y'all thought before I spend the money
Any thoughts on the $600 tractor dealer vs. EBay at $300?
Thanks

There is a lot of things that are odd about your tractor!
Anyway the hydraulic pump is not under the seat area. It is on the engine.

There is a piston under the seat and a relief valve that could be making the noise.

Hello
The first thing I would do is clean the hydraulic filter. It is located under the left step just in front of the axle. It is a cleanable screen.if it is dirty it may be causing you problems.. Nice tractor , I have one also but not as nice as yours.
Good luck Lance

Thank You! I will check that this morning . The sound is not coming from under the seat it is coming from closer to the engine
I actually have 2 of these tractors and we use them all the time to cultivate !

Nice L245H High-Clearance !

There's a cleanable suction strainer low on the left side that could be fouled, causing the pump to cavitate (might make the noise you hear) see part 17 on attached parts drawing.

Is it this ? See pic. I unscrew these bolts and remove the plate?

Wow! Look at it .. awkward to get it out as it hits the axel and doesn't fit exactly

The transmission should be flushed out to get rid of all that sludge. Get several cans of brake cleaner.
Open a top cover or two and spray brake cleaner in to wash down everything you can reach
and flowing it toward and out the screen opening. Get it as clean as possible before putting in new oil.
Go after the screen with brake cleaner and compressed air. If it doesn't clean up well, replace it.
Take care, Dick B

DO yourself and your tractor a favor and buy a new filter screen. ;)

Great! Glad I found this thread!
My TPH just stopped working, had to drop blade go to the shop. I have been having trouble with the dread *shudder*, so I pulled the case cover off, replaced valve seals. All looked good, so I got a roll of smaller than coat hanger wire, bent a 1/16" radius at the end, clipped the part beyond the radius off, then fished to bottom of case, inside where the pump return line connects outside. I felt a rough surface there, so I drained the fluid, disconnected the pump return line. I see the strainer in the bottom. Removed, cleaned it thoroughly, replaced.
In replacing the valve seals, I did nor count the turns I screwed the relief valve nuts to get them off. Anyone know the procedure for setup on these two threaded adjustments?
