Have decided to get a L3901 HST this year for our property. We will be clearing cedar trees, mowing, trash clean up, some driveway work and some small food plots on 408 acres of mostly timber. Lots of small elms and typical midwest undergrowth in the timber. Wet weather creeks and some year round pools in them.
We are thinking the following will allow us to clear paths through the timber and mowing around old homesteads and cleaning fallen down out buildings.

LA525 loader with quick coupler
5 ft brush hog
5 ft box blade
50 inch reverse tiller
72 inch rake
20 ft 2 axle trailer
quick hitch

Later plan on getting a 48 inch or 54 inch claw grapple to pick and move brush
and trash from the old outbuildings.

Any thoughts?

I just purchased an L3901. Its a great little tractor. Its pretty light and needs plenty of rear ballast when doing loader/grapple work. I have my rear tires filled, but really that's not enough. I would suggest staying as light as practical for the grapple.

Get a 3rd function valve installed if you are planning to add a grapple. why a 5ft box blade? better check the tire width i think the tires are at 64 inches apart. you will probably want to space them out with some spacers.

What type of tires are you looking to get? I have R1's on the L3901DT, I use it mostly in the woods for cutting firewood. I also help maintain the private road we live off of. You might want to add a set of pallet forks to the list of things to get. Best thing I have gotten for the tractor since I got it.

Everybody's advice is right on so far. The grapple for clearing your land is a must.

My only suggestion is that your 3 PH implements at least cover your wheel width/tire track whenever possible.

Wider is nice, but too wide isn't good either.

What is the width of your L going to be?

Is the 50" tiller narrower than your tractor?

Old rule of thumb is ~ 5 PTO hp/foot of implement....looks like you're spot on with box and cutter.

I think your choice of attachments is great - I was just wondering tiller size is all.

Best of luck - lot of guys here love their 3301 and 3901's!

My 3901 has a backhoe and grapple, you will not regret getting either!

What brand and size grapple do you have? We're trying to decide on one hopefully thats not to heavy for the tractor to benefit from. Plan to use the box blade to add weight to the back of the tractor. We are getting R4 tires as we have a lot of black locust trees so lots of thorns just waiting to puncture any tire they can.

Brochure shows 55.1 inch width on the tractor. So we figured a 5 foot(60inch) box blade would cover the width of the tires. Also planning on pallet forks haven't decided on just what to get yet. And we have ordered the 3rd function for the loader.

If it were me, I would go with a 5' tiller rather than to 50" one so it is wider than your tire tracks.

We'll look into it. Right now we're at $27930.00 for the package deal and another $2300 for a 20 foot trailer. And we still want to get a grapple.

It's a land pride, it's not to heavy at all. The stuff you can do with a grapple is amazing.
I will double check the model number for you tomorrow.

You might consider the other type of grapple with the longer jaws like the EA Wicked Grapple.

I had both the LP and the EA grapples. An advantage of the LP is that you can use it to rake the ground and will hold a single log tightly and also seems better had grabbing rocks. The EA with the longer jaws can hold more logs at one time but a single log will just sit in the space between the jaws without being clamped. Each one has its advantages depending on the situation.

Apprently I read the spec sheet wrong, and have been for a while. :(
