The warning that straightening it a few times is causing fatigue is not correct. Fatigue comes from thousands of bending stressings. A few cases in going beyond yield (of course you know what that means) work hardens it, raising the yield point in that area so the next bend might be a little further up the ram. If you can straighten it to near original shape, it should work fine. Check the diameter at various locations (like nine, 12, three o-clock) around the shaft and it is nearly round, fine. But if it is far out of round, the seals may leak too much.

It is possible that if someone has changed the routing of the valves that you could have an over pressure issue.
But normally over pressure will hurt lines and seals not actually bend a ram under heavy use.
One thing that will bend it, is if the ram has a longer travel than the stock ram.

Is the bend happening when its fully retracted?

Metal fatigue is actually a series of small cracks in the metal at the molecular level, and can be caused by one cycle usually. But no expert here, just speaking from past experience.

The bend happens when the arm is being pulled back towards the machine.The ram is about half way in when it bends, and the ram is pushing out to bring the boom in. By changing the hoses on the valve, all that should have done is change the flow , so both valves work in the same direction. The pressure relief is on the pressure side of the valve, so it shouldn't matter where the oil is routed after it passes the relief. I still think its the cheap ram cant take the heat, because it happened after 45 minutes use, doing the same digging, seems it would happen immediately if that wasn't the case.

But the two valves could have different relief settings.

Do you know where there is another backhoe the same model. If you do measure from the center of the pivot pin to the center of the cyl pin and see if the measurements are the same. It could be someone screwed up and you have an alinement problem putting a strain on your cyl
