My early 2000 L4310 with 2100 Hrs, that has been great and other than replacing Hy hoses, no issues at all until now.
Doing some box blade work yesterday on a bit of a hill. As I pushed in the clutch to made a gear change the tractor started to roll back and I hear a loud pop. From that point on I have NO free play in the clutch peddle, and the clutch does not engage until the peddle is at the very top.
Tractor still pulls but not under load.
If its not a bad clutch, and I don't think it is, what do you think I'm dealing with.
Thanks for any input,
Bowhunter

adjust the clutch until you do have free play and see how it works. I think you will be rebuilding your clutch! something has gone wrong in there and there isn't many things you can do without splitting the tractor. (the clutch lining may have torn off one side of the disc)

Thanks for the reply's fellows, and that's what I was afraid of.
I guess the next step is to dig into it, and decide if it's best to go with a all new clutch or rebuild. I'm not sure I have the time or expertiece for this job. Tractor is 2 hours from my home and I'm only there 2 to 3 days a month during the summer. I'm sure it's not going to be cheap.
Thanks again,
Bowhunter

Bowhunter, you get the parts and tools lined up and in 3 days you'll have it finished, even if you slack off some.

Going to take a long look at it this weekend and decide if I'm up to the job.
I feel it would be best to have a hard flat surface, that I will not have at the farm.
I think the preasure plate is still in contact with the clutch so I don't think it's safe to drive it very far. About a mile to the nearest place I can get it on a slab.
Have been reading up on taking it apart and I'm sure it's not a bad as it sounds but it to a new-be like me it appears to be a big deal :)
Will follow up and thanks again

OK guys, I had a friend offer to help me this weekend and take this thing apart.
Since I will have the thing apart what other things should I go ahead and change out other than the clutch.
thanks,
