Important safety tip:
When checking to hear gas flow, do not point gun at ear.
Maintenance man at work (who was not a qualified welder) did just that, wire feed was set on high, and he punctured his ear drum.
Can't fix stupid.
I had thought to mention that part, but i chose not to. Who could possibly that stupid.
Wait i know a guy. Asked me to re-gear his differentials. Pulled front diff and axles and proceeded to drive to my shop with nothing supporting front wheel bearings. Destroyed everything. Then turned around and drove home.

I once responded to a drywall guy putting up ceiling using a baker's scaffold. Since the scaffold platform is smaller than a sheet of drywall, he was leaning way over off the end, clamping the edge of the drywall to the ceiling channel with one hand and working the screwgun with the other.

He put a screw through the board, channel and the bone at the tip of his middle finger before dropping the screwgun.

Stupidest thing I've ever seen was at a speedy lube/ tire shop. Had the glass window in the lobby so you could watch the work being done on your car. Kid had an impact gun in one hand, and a nut that just fit over the tip of his finger.

Kid took the impact and for some stupid reason, he put it on the nut and squeezed the trigger :eek: Once I got over the shock of seeing the kid do it, and got to a point where I wasn't pointing and stuttering, I got the store manager and told him what happened. Then we went out and tended to the kid.

Now, there was only one way to get that nut back off that kids finger and that was the same way it went on
