I have a progressively worsening rear crankshaft seal leak on my 950D engine in my B7200 HSTE so I'm planning my attack to replace it.

In looking through the WSM they list Flywheel Puller number 07916-06041 that has a list price of 243 bucks. I wanted to see if anyone can recommend a much less expensive puller that will do the job.

I've removed a few flywheels, but never used a flywheel puller. Didn't know there was such a tool, I guess because I never needed one! I sure wouldn't pay $250 for one, not on that engine.

One thing I would suggest when working with a flywheel is to take a punch and mark the flywheel somewhere, usually the uppermost (top) position. Then don't turn the crankshaft when working, or punch the same (top) position on the crankshaft. Reason? Those bolt holes look like they're symmetrical, they're not. They only fit one one way and you can have a lot of fun rotating the flywheel to get it to the correct combination before the bolts go in. AND make sure you get the bolts in several turns with your fingers, 'cause if you use a wrench and you have them located wrong, you have a mess with bad threads.

I've never needed a puller to remove a Kubota flywheel! Be sure to get both gaskets for that seal adapter and don't mix up the bolts that attach it. (they usually are different lengths depending whether they are going into the block or the rear crankshaft support) replace the gaskets, quite often it is them that are leaking and not the seal.

Get a genuine Kubota seal and gaskets, there are aftermarket ones available, and I've had very bad luck with them! :(
