Re-assembled after split and Trans rebuild.
I have a part left over. Looks like a spacer the diameter of the input shaft with indentations 180 apart. I'm trying to find a way to post a pic from my iPhone.

My experience with building transmissions is they do not run very long without parts like this. If you are sure it was not replaced with new during your rebuild I would not run until you find the correct location and reinstall.

I looked through all my computer-based manuals & my parts list, and none show enough detail to tell the difference between a bearing, spacer, seal, or a lifesaver candy.
I have a relatively high quality, printed, 400+ page manual, and it shows (pg 206) the photo below. The ring in the right foreground definitely has the two grooves or notches that your part has, but there is no mention of a name or part number, but it appears to be associated with the 25T front wheel drive gear.
Sorry for the poor pic, best I could do.

Another thought- Grooved parts like that usually only have two functions; to act as a detent for spring-loaded balls, or to admit oil to a bearing surface.
Maybe that will provide a clue?

That is a trust collar.
The indents are for lubrication.
Your going to have issues with that not installed.

I am going to the kubota dealer with the part in hand. I too believe it is a thrust collar and I have to be certain. Tractor has been apart for 7 months now. Wish I could remember. ...

Always a good idea to stop and take way too many pictures when starting to disassemble something! Comes in so handy, especially when putting wires back to the correct location. Good luck in finding it in a simple to get to place.

You are going to be real lucky if anyone at a dealership has any clue as most of the mechanics will have never have worked on a B7100.

There is several places the same collars go, and sadly they are in the middle of the transmission. :(

Fiftybucks & I have been exchanging e-mails & I was able to scan the pertinent sections of the manual. These are much clearer, & he thinks he has verified the part & where it might go. He needs to speak with hid dealer who actually rebuilt the transmission to see if the part had been replaced with a new one.

The plot thickens.
This plot is so thick now it is getting to a heartache - to figure where it goes will require almost a complete tear down! Hate to start and run the ol girl without this piece in the mix!;)

Helped another person with something very similar where the same part was missing, it made a heck of a noise when it tried to go into gear. :(

It was a thrust bushing on the end of the 4x4 transmission shaft.
also there is a metal pin that goes in that groove...

the tractor is all back together and the transmission is great..
thx all...

Glad to hear it, it was beginning to sound like it could have been a very ugly can of worms.
