NEW M7060 12 speed weak, weak weak in 11 & 12 gear

I purchased a brand new M7060HDC 12 speed a last Wednesday, it has no power in 11th or 12th. It will not even pull it's own weight in 12th gear on a flat road & can barely do it in 11th gear. I got it into 12th gear going downhill but to make it up the other side, I had to gear down all the way to 9th gear, doing 14mph. The dealer says that is normal for a 12 speed. The only time I have ever had to gear down on this hill is when I was pulling a hay trailer with eleven 5x6 round bales. Does anyone else have this problem with a 12 speed? Is this normal in 12 speeds? Please help! tks jimmy
P.S. the 2nd day I owned the tractor i saw it was blowing hyd fuild out on the black top road with 3 hrs on the tractor. it is now sitting at the kubota dealership waiting to be diagnosed for that problem also. HELP HELP HELP:mad::mad::mad:

Different animal, but similar issue.
My dad has a JD 5065E, with 240 loader and cab. It has a 12 speed power reverser, and it is a pig in 12th gear. I pulls it on flat ground and slight grades, but there is no acceleration or power in high gear.
There is nothing wrong with the tractor, other than it is underpowered for the weight of the machine. It pulls fine all day long in the lower gears, because they are so low. But, with the weight of the tractor, a heavy loader, and a full cab, the engine is too low on horsepower and torque to move that much weight in high gear- it is at the outer limits of performance. I bet that the same tractor , with 20 more hp (5085E), would perform differently.
Given that, I believe that the high gear has limited use. We've accepted that, and operate accordingly. Fortunately, we don't have to drive it much on the road, in high gear, so it is a very limited inconvenience.
Is there any way your dealership would let you test out another one, to see if it pulls the same in high gear? Either confirm that you have a problem, or that it is the way that it is?
My guess is that your 7060 is suffering from the same issue as our 5065E- a mediocre performer (in the higher gears) because there just isn't quite enough oomph. I bet that the engine is planned for the tractor in plain trim, without all of the added weight. Once those weights are added, it isn't quite the performer that was planned.

BAP, are you talking about gasoline powered tractors? If not, what models are you making reference to?

Diesel's like the Kubota the OP has and the John Deere that Hodge was talking about. We had a John Deere 1978 2840 with a straight non turbo 6 cylinder engine and a 2001 JD 6410 with a 4 cylinder turbo engine. Both rated at around 85 horsepower. The older tractor would walk away from the newer one pulling hills and tough conditions. We borrowed a neighbors Kubota around 70 hp and same thing, as soon as rpms started to drop because of load , it would run out of power fast. Horsepower is great, but without torque to go along with it, they will be "Gutless Wonders".

I am curious if there has been a resolution to the power problem with the mentioned M7060? Mine handles hills in the 12th gear depending on the hill, it is equipped with a loader and have done the hills with a Land Pride RBT3584 blade, cast wheels and three sets of wheel weights.

Old thread but I', curious as well. My M9000HDCC3 has no issue roading in 12th at all. In fact I use high gear all the time when going from field to field on the road. Having said that however, none of the highg side gears ar good for anything other than roading but mine pulls right up yo 23 mph in 12th, no issue

When I need the added power (torque) on the M9''s, like when round baling with an almost full bale chamber (I run 4 x 6 rounds),, they both get right up on the turbo, blow a little smoke and comply.. The both stay right in the torque range and never drop any rpm. My cab M9 has a straight exhaust (from the turbo) so I can her spool up and it's a nice sound. On the M's, maximum torque rise is also PTO rpm (540). For less power demanding applications like raking, I run in the 1000 PTO position (I have a 2 speed 540-1000 tpo) but I reduce the engine RPM to 540 PTP speed which is below the torque rise poi9nt of the engine which is no issue because I don't require the torque like I do when running power intensive implements... and it saves fuel and wear and tear on the engine and driveline too.

When I purchased the cab tractor, that was my intent when I got the 2 speed (540-1000 option).

I feel like tractors get tuned so to speak as to how the man doing the pump is feeling that day. Night and day difference between my open M9000 and my cab M9000. Both are rated the same but very different in power. And when I say different I mean it's huge. My cab tractor will pull a 15' batwing better than the open would handle a 8' cutter. I honestly feel like the cab tractor is over 100hp.

All that said, if it was mine and I felt like it was that weak I'd make them put it on a dyno. All the guess work will be gone and you'll know for sure if it's normal or if they're just blowing smoke.

Easy to dyno any tractor too. The dyno connects to the PTO shaft output. Very simple to perform and most shops have one.

Adding a current experience to weak 12th gear... My new M4 totally bogged down when trying to get up to speed in 12th--barely got above 800 rpm and 10mph. Dealer service said it was the kill switch that they installed before delivery. Anyone else have this problem or any other problems with M4's as they are still rare in the field?
