I've operated construction all my adult life. Backhoes are as close as I got to a tractor. So I soon learned how tippy a tractor can be while picking up heavy objects. Today I nearly tipped over while crossing a two foot deep barrowpit at a angle. First reaction for me is to quickly lower the FEL which was not very high. Then backup with the bucket on the ground. With only a implement for ballast I was surprised! The sudden jolt may have thrown me if not for the seat belt. Just a reminder to other first time owners be careful! I know everybody has heard it before but wear the belt on uneven ground! Happens quick!

PlIt can sure tighten you up when that happens. That is why I fabbed up a dedicated ballast box that I know has enough weight to keep my B2650 planted now matter what I am bucketing or lifting. I designed it to be able to put as much weight on as needed. I found with my tractor 650 lbs will keep my B2650 planted with a full 60" bucket of heavy clay and running around on uneven ground. I kept experimenting and adding weight till I achieved that goal. My frame weighs 150lbs and each piece of rr track is a 100 lbs = 650 lbs. I have another 500 lbs if needed. That is why I like using a dedicated ballast box. It is compact and I know I have enough weight to do what I have to do and not tip over. It would sure be a bad day to tip over the Kubota!!

I came by my neighbor's house yesterday and he was mowing the yard with a rider. Steering with his right hand, holding his son with his left hand.

I cringe! Can't say anything to some folks, their young, know it all, ain't nothing like THAT ever going to happen to them....on and on.

When it happens it's too late.

This was a few years ago, but if you think you're beyond tragedy, just insert the picture of your loved on in this story. Keep it in mind the next time you want to show your love by having them by your side.

I want to make a simple ballast box. Just wish I could find a weld on three point assembly. I can't drill two 7/8" and one 3/4" holes needed for the hitch.

Your 3301 is basically the same as my 2501. My 2501, in factory form, is tipsy. Scared me several times. I am 15+ hours away from my 50 hour service. I plan to take it to the dealer for the service and have them put ballest in the tires and space out my R1 rims for a wider stance. After that I think it will be perfect. My land is hilly. If it was flat I probably wouldn't care.

Thanks for all the comments. I have used step drill bits at work. Not that big and the price is cheaper than a single 7/8 regular bit.
