I have a Kubota L5030 GST transmission love the tractor. I'd like to use it for trenching however I believe it will require the use of an added creep gear set, adding another 12 gears. I found the cost of the parts associated with it, however I cannot find any info in the service manual on the installation of the creep gears. Does anyone have any info on this? Or be able to help? Kubota dealer says tractor needs to be split for it and estimates about a 2500$ in just labor above the 600$ for the parts. Any thoughts?

Rent something like a mini excavator. I do know the value of a creeper gear, but 3100 is a little hard to take. Unless you can recover the cost over a few jobs done with the machine.

You need to go back to your dealers sales staff to see if the wholegoods number is still available. It will be cheaper and the installation instructions.

I have to agree with tooljunkie on this,,, sometimes you are better off renting something to do a job, rather than trying to make your stuff do what you want, in the long run.

Agreed if your only doing a weeks or so worth of work. However, This is a very specialized trencher with spoils conveyor and possibly ending up being a multi year task as we estimate thousands of feet of drain tile.

Sidebar here I have contemplated tradeing the GST off on a hydro, However with the advent of Tier IV alot of the used 5030's have absolutely evaporated. With the addition of Deer Hunters and food plots also lol.

Just what are you planing to do, I think if your trenching then a trencher should be in your future, or if trenches are already there then a track hoe, and if I understand your removing drainage tiles, is this to put in new drainage tiles or what? Your not building a golf course are you???

I'm not building a golf course, but I run one that needs some drainage. We typically don't install drain tile like the Agricultural environment. We cut the trench, remove the spoil, lay the tile and place pea stone to top of trench. Much better drain performance, google french drain.
Also the trencher we are looking at is a Shelton 100, take a look, its impressive

I believe the wholegoods PN is L8324. It looks like the 30 and 40 series use the same one.

See attachment for screen shot of older Wholegoods price list (price will be outdated)

That is absolutely the Kit 200MPH. I'm haveing a hard time getting the dealer to forward me the paperwork contained within the kit to actually see what has to happen. I have a close friend who has been a Heavy equipment, and tractor mechanic his whole life who is entertaining the idea of doing this in house. The install directions are contained within the kit I'm told.
Side bar here, 584$ still seems high for two gears and rod linkage and lever, but you can't fight city hall.

Had a parts guy i worked with say-
"Dont like the price? Go home and make your own"

Not a nice thing to say to a paying customer.

Hard to justify the expense, but the benefits may be worth it to you. You know what dealer wants to install, im sure your friend will be able to do it for much less.

Trust I get it. There is only so much you can do when it comes to parts and they will never be giving them away.

I'm just attempting to get as much info as possible prior to making the decision to let the dealer or another dive into this project.

If you need the creeper gear, why not buy it, read the directions and then decide who will install?

I tried searching for instructions, but couldn't find any published anywhere.
