Kubota BX 2350
Hey guys. I've got a BX 2350. I want to pick up a 3pt log splitter for my tractor. With my tractor's hydraulic system how many tons of pressure can I expect to get from it? I see the average for non-3pt is about 20-22 tons. Can I expect that much from my little tractor? Also, if anybody has one that they're considering selling, I'm interested. Contact me! Thanks fellas.

The problem you're going to run into is your limited HF volume. My neighbor runs a 3pt splitter on an M70 kubota and even that is slow. Significantly slower than my self powered 28 ton splitter. I use the tractor to move the splitter and the loader to move big rounds. I wouldn't want to tie it up just for the hydraulics.

Ditto. Anything less than a good size L series tractor. You are asking for problems. Get a stand alone towable log splitter and put a ball on a 3 point drawbar.

OK if your heart is set on one, then the only way you cant make it work on a BX is an external hydro pump, on the the PTO. As much as I love my little beast it just doesnt have the heart to pump that much oil. I forget the company that makes a smalish 3pt splitter that will work on the BX and it has the PTO pump included. OMG, $$$$$$$$$,,,,,,And thats the reason I tow my cheap troybuilt POS, V/H splitter.

Ditto to what Skeets said - you are gonna find that you will spend more $$$$ to get the sucker to work, than if you bought a brand new pull behind version. A pull behind has a 5+ HP engine, pump and all the plumbing and if you are smart get a two stage cylinder that retracts faster than it splits.

Plus - with the pull behind - you pull it, park it, split the wood and throw the wood on the trailer that you towed behind the BX!

You can find pull behinds on CL and even new under a 1k.....new at lowes, tsc and any other large stores.

I bought a lightly used speeco 28 ton H/V with 10.5 hp industrial/commercial motor for $800 and I've used the heck out of it.

I'm not usually a big fan of northern tool and hydraulics but their Honda powered splitters are a real good value if buying new. Depending on where you're at speeco and some others are good. Used is ok as long as you don't buy somebody's shelled out crap.
