TJ, Daren, this is for you guys. Just saw a snippet of what's showing at the Chicago Car Show, and Mercedes now makes a car/ van/ truck with built in drawers, cubbies etc accessible from the side, stainless steel? Looked pretty cool...

One of my distant future projects. After i motorize a picnic table. Then a toolbox i can drive from building to building.

Why just a motorized toolbox? Why not a bluetooth toolbox that links to your voice recognition smartphone? You could tell your toolbox what tool to hand you.

Sheepfarmer, I'll have to keep an eye out for what they come up with. First thing I did was try to find a link 
Dodge has been advertising built in storage on some of there new trucks. I did stop by a dealer for a peek. Beds are a little thicker. But was more stow and go instead of being able to keep it organized like a regular tool chest.
My service truck has built in drawers for tools, but then again it's obvious that it's a work truck as well. Looking forward to seeing what they came up with.

Farmer i know loves his dodge with toolboxes. They actually stay pretty dry -if you close them....has a habit of leaving doors open. For days. Stepped out of a running truck and left it in gear. Bounced off a couple trees and into the drink it went.
Dont need box to hand me tools, would be great if it retrieved them though.

I confess to a love for things with lots of little drawers and compartments! I was bent out of shape when my dad left his roll top desk to my nephew
The idea of driving down the freeway in a Mercedes of any sort, much less one with a gillion drawers and compartments tickled my funny bone.
A fold out work surface and the "wings" would have some design elements that would appeal to vets that have something similar on their pickups. Not to mention easy to access drawers. The ones on pickups you need to be tall to reach.

I have to admit, when I saw the title of this thread, all that came to mind was a Snapon or Matco truck. I could spend hours in those drooling.
Snap-on rolls up my driveway every second wednesday. Wife just tallied my tool purchases for last year. I need a gate.....I have to admit, when I saw the title of this thread, all that came to mind was a Snapon or Matco truck. I could spend hours in those drooling.
Honestly the quality of tools in my line of work is necessary. Got warranty on an air hammer bit,so i was happy.

Wow, I'd be poor & he'd be rich. I now have to make some effort to shop with them since I retired, no regular visits anymore. But you're right about great warranty service. A dealer I had never dealt with just replaced a badly shattered 4lb deadblow hammer with no questions asked. Hard to find that kind of service these days.
Wasnt real impressed with the snap on guy around here,,, I have an old maybe 40 years old dial torque wrench, and it has never been calibrated since it came from the factory,, and just for S&G i wanted to get it re-calibrated. He said they cant be, and being that old it should be tossed away and a new one bought,, Yeah right

Some of the snap on guys can be pretty stand offish. Depends on the area your in. The one that serviced the shop when I lived in Florida was miserable to deal with. So I set up an account with the Matco dealer instead.
I used Matco exclusively for 6 years till the dealer in Arkansas went out of business. Then decided to try Snapon again. The local Snapon dealer that handles my area is a great guy and easy to deal with. I have dealt with a couple other dealers when working out of state and needed to warranty something that were miserable.
Hey, I have a motorized tool box. It's a Dodge Dakota! Has one box with 3/8", one with 1/2", only with plumbing wrenches, one with metric. Then misc. tools needed for the day fill in any other space.
The previous two snapon reps were wankers. Then two dealers had a pissing match over whos area this was and they both got thrown out of all the local shops. This guy has been around about 4-5 years and hes great. If i really need something i can go right to his house and get it. And a coffee to boot.
My biggest complaint is snapon gave me a massive line of credit,i could get in pretty deep it i let me.

I just have a truck account. But after 5 years worth of payments with him, I can pretty much walk off the truck with anything under $2k
He's tried to get me to fill out a credit app, but I have been steadfastly refusing. Bout twice a year, he shows up with another guy driving a a big box truck full of used tool boxes. Now that's one truck I've been avoiding like the plague So far, I've been able to use the excuse that there boxes won't fit in my work station I did make one mistake though. That was mentioning to my wife that the tool truck is " the man's version of Victoria's Secret". Once she found out what I spent on the Tool Truck. She said "Oh!!!!! That means I get to spend that amount too!!!!!"
I will never open my mouth and insert my foot like that again
