BX Front Snow Blade options

Anyone have much experience or advice about which snow blade I should get for my bx25d? I lucked into the Kubota front quick attach (used with snow blowers, sweepers, and snow blades) for $275 but trying to decide between the manual angle 54" blade TG2754 for $499 or the 60" power angle blade BX2763a for $1300-1400. My gut says get the lighter duty 54" and do my own power angle option but the 60" option is very heavy duty and nice too just expensive. Does anyone have experience with either and how the BX does with one in snow, dirt, gravel, etc? Is 54" better for the BX over 60? Is the 54" blade very heavy duty? Anyone know how to find out what thickness steel the blades and supports are made of on these two for comparing? Thanks everyone!

I also have a 54" old garden tractor blade im considering custom fabricating to the hitch but not sure if it will stand up the abuse of the BX or that I really want to hack / weld onto the quick hitch just yet....

I use the 60" angle adjustable blade and absolutely love it. It makes it incredibly handy to be able to lift, lower, and turn side to side quickly and powerfully. It rolls snow beautifully, and I could not imagine NOT being able to turn and lift on the fly. If you were to try one, I do not believe you would ever think of a manual adjust rig. My .02 cents worth

chuck the manual will serve you well, thats what i use and if you plan out your work a little bit you wont have a bit of troubles! And i have used the same blade to push dirt, gravel, snow and once in a while logs we cut and load into the dump truck and then dump off at the house. Like I said think about what your doing and it will work. Now the power angle one would be real nice theres no doubt, and guys love them. Just depends where you want to spend your money

Go with the 2763, keep an eye on Craigslist. I picked one up for $1000 with the QH, turned around and sold the QH for $300 since I already had one for the blower. Made my total cost $700 for a nice plow and as another member mentioned, it makes it easy being able to control it with a flick of the wrist.

I have the bx25d and the 2760 with the hydraulic angle kit. My set up is all new and don't have experience with any of it except for moving snow so far....love it and works like a charm. But like skeets said it just depends where you want to spend your money. The non hydraulic angle will work well but I do like the automatic option better if the spend won't kill you.

I would really like power angle but can add that to a 54 myself. I actually got my quick hitch same way as you kupitz. the guy I bought mine from had it to make a setup and while searching for a blade found a 54 with hitch attached so he sold me his spare one. He actually converted his 54 manual to hydraulic quite easily and let me take pictures and look it over closely while buying this. It seems like a pretty sturdy blade but the 60" setup did have more reinforcement on it. Just cant decide if its worth the extra 900... thanks for the input guys, guess ill keep looking and see what I come up with.

might try selling my old garden tractor blade to offset the cost of one of these just a bit...

I live way north of you, and snow blading is a big concern. I use my 60" hydraulic adjust blade a lot. I do my road and driveway (1/2 mile long) and neighbors driveways. There's a lot of turns, angles, switching back and forth etc. You could easily set the manual blade angled to one side and go up and down the road, never changing it, or getting off your tractor. I'm sure your not out 2-3 times a week moving the white stuff.
I guarantee you will love a manual turn blade way more than a walk behind blower or a snow shovel! Yes they work great for material pushing too

thanks man! We are more of the 3-4 big storm per year kinda place. I also clear the elderly neighbors and like to take it to work and help out on the parking lot too. For me its not a huge deal, I just want to get the best value. If the 60" is built that much better then ill keep saving, if its not much thicker/beefier than the 54 then ill get it and add my own power angle.

I have the 2763a as well, with the hydraulic angle. IMHO, It's the only way fly. It does well clearing snow from the driveway, but you have to maintain a bit of forward speed to get the snow to roll off the blade. I usually make a second pass to push the new berm back a bit in preparation for the next storm. I'm trying to design some drop-down end gates to increase the capacity of the blade when pushing snow in a straight line. I'll share them when done. It has also worked quite well pushing sand, and dirt, once its loosened, and does a fine job on the feed lot. To dig a rather large hole for a preformed pond liner, I went over the area with a tiller, pushed the loose dirt out the end, and repeated as neccessary. Yes, it would have been easier with a BH or FEL, but I didnt buy either of those options. Yet. A couple of pointers:
1. Don't forget to remove the blade tilt lock brackets before using it to move snow. Those abrupt stops can be painful.
2. Make sure the pin that goes in the lock cam on the socket is in place. Nothing is more humbling than having your blade fall off!
3. Keep an eye on the lift cylinder seals, as they wear quickly.
4. Don't ask your blade to do too much. Get off the tractor, and dig that boulder out by hand, then push it around with the blade. Putting too much pressure on one corner of the blade while digging can lead to bent blades, and leaking/blown banjo bolt seals (speaking from experience).
I've had my blade for going on 7 years, with no failures not induced by the operator, or major complaints.

When I lived in vermont we had a 7ft Fisher on a Chevy half ton, and a 9ft fisher on a Ford f350 dually. Would plow wearing a long sleeve shirt. No need for a coat. Dually also had a sander attached to the bed. Just flip a lever when you were down to salt and sand

I have a BX1870-1 with the BX2763A blade and BX2751 QH. Great for snow pushing. Live in NE PA and have not removed the blade from the QH this year, yet. I used to use a black blade on a B1550DT but due to neck surgery, was unable to turn my head around. Also have a BX23S TLB. I do wish Kubota or someone would come up with side extension/s to allow blade to carry more snow when plowing straight. I did have side ends on my back blade that were really nice in carry snow. Just saying. Still looking for another BX2763a & QH for another BX 1870. Let me know it anyone has one.

They all work fine - wider is always better if you plow a lot of snow
Remember a 54 inch blade on a bx2200 set at 45 degrees just covers the wheel base width
If you are not liking the price - get your self a 5ft or 6 ft back blade and some mirrors
Me I have a 5ft 6 inch back blade and tried to buy a front blade off a b2601 but kubota dealer was being
well less put it - he could care less if he sold it to me
If you are going to spend 1000 - 1500 this would cover 3 or 4 rear attachments HAPPY HUNTING

Whatever blade you add to the BX, be SURE to add 300# of weight AND chains to the rear. You NEED the ballast and traction. No more blades for me though, I made my own SSQA selfpowered 48" snowblower. Goes on in 30 seconds, tosses snow far,far away.
