Hi all, new Kubota owner here. We just bought an L2501hst the week after Christmas, took advantage of the 0% and $2800 in rebates along with trading in our old 1953 Ford Jubilee that was very good at not running when it was needed. It pulled that one too many times this past fall. Lol.

Anyway, bought the 2501 with pallet forks, loader (had the dealer weld 3 chain hooks on the loader as well), and post holer to go along with the brush mower, rear blade, and box scraper that we already had.

Have had it for just over a week and aleady have 14 hrs on it from moving snow on our 10 acre place. The way this winter is going here, it will have many more before spring. Great little tractor, glad we took the step up from the B series we were originally looking at. Loving the 4wd, the beast is pretty much unstoppable so far!

Still waiting on the ag tires (it has the R4's now), which will be weighted. Also waiting on the fiberglass canopy with front light kit.

We also have a cabin on 32 acres in the mountains that we will be doing a lot of tree clearing and dirt work at, so this thing will be getting a lot of hours on it throughout all seasons. So far have been digging thru 4-5 foot snow drifts and piling snow. The wind keeps us pretty busy with that, whether it has snowed that day or not.

Anyway, looking forward to lots of years of use out of this little orange monster!

Wow, I thought I had wind. You have no cover anywhere. Awesome views though....

I know how the wind blow there thru Billings, we have friends in Billings, Big Timber and Miles City. You will love your new Kubota for keeping those snow drifts under control

Amazing views, but don't know about the snow part. You're going to love the L2501. I've had mine for 7 months or so and put on a little over 100 hours around the house.

Welcome to the group! The views out there are stunning. You could watch your chickens run away for three days...
The tractor will serve you well for a long long time. Quite the difference going to a 4x4 tractor isn't it?
Just wait until you get the other tires on...

Thanks, we actually live on a bluff that basically has cliffs on 3 sides, so yeah, we can see forever, if the wind doesn't blow us away. it is a nice place, but needs trees. going to work on that this summer, gotta come up with some sort of watering system since we are on a 4k gallon cistern.

The 4wd is amazing, totally different world compared to the old ford. will never be able to look back and miss that old tractor at all. lol

Is the creek that's in the pic of you and the Jubi at the house or cabin?
If it's at the house I would get a tote or 55 gallon plastic barrels and fill with a pump.
The 275 gal. tote would be two heavy to lift if full though (2200 lbs.). Less than 1/2 full should work to lift, or maybe transfer from a 55 gal. to the tote as a reservoir as needed.
You could water directly or rig some sort of drip hose to all of them if the water was uphill.
Otherwise collect rain water is another option. Just some thoughts...

the pic with the jubi is at the cabin, we have plenty of water there. I have a 4wd 1ton van I am thinking about getting a 275 gal tote to put in the back of for the house, just need to figure out how to fill it when it is in there.

First pic gives you an idea of the area around the cabin, small creek right thru the property, I plan on building another small cabin this summer so will need to flatten a space out with the tractor for that, eventually plan to add on to the cabin so we can move there in a few years.

My tractor towing rig....

And this kind of gives an idea of how the house sits, can't see the sandstone cliffs on the other side of the house from this angle though. It drops off probably 100' over there. Contemplating some sort of rainwater catch pond somewhere...

I see this kind of tank on CL around here often.

If you can find one and put in the bed of a trailer made from a pickup bed, you have an easy to fill water hauler.

https://kansascity.craigslist.org/grd/5973324165.html
Yeah, a lot of people around here use those, my problem is the hill we have to come up to get up on top where the house is at. It is easier to haul inside the van when it is muddy or slick, it is probably an 11-12% grade with a large s curve. I find my van a lot more practical than a pickup for my uses, I carry my bass rig (I play bass in a band), haul stuff in and out of the cabin, have it set up for towing, etc... it is the most versatile vehicle I have ever had. I even use it as a moto van to camp in if I want to take my motorcycles out to the mountains somewhere.

This kinda shows the cliff on the south side...

And my other consideration, this was 2 weeks after we moved in, a neighbor made it over with his brush truck with a tank very similar to the one you posted that was rigged with a pump and hose. That was the only thing that saved the barn. He got there right when the fire crested the top of the cliff, we had DNRC and 5 other rural fire depts there along with 2 helicopters and a jet bomber about 10 min later...

I have used the box scraper to cut a fire line around our property since... I have to re-cut it every month or so during the summer when the weeds start to grow back. Probably need to find a disk setup for the Kubota soon. That would be easier than the box scraper.

The burnt area looks pretty smooth as far as rocks and holes go. Might be able to mow a wide area to keep fuel for fire almost non-existant.
