I have been in the market for a rotary cutter for my L3830. I have looked and considered the LP RCR1860 and Rhino 160 as a medium duty hog. My wife stumbled across this LP RCR2560 a guy on Facebook had for sale in my area. It is in immaculate condition aside from the black paint. There is no surface rust, blades look excellent, gearbox does not leak and oil is clean, everything is very solid and has not been abused whatsoever...all for $500.00. The fella got rid of his tractor and had the mower sitting for a year or so and didn't need it anymore...probably needed some Christmas cash. The only work I have done to it so far is knock the driveshaft loose since it had rusted together from sitting in the elements...no biggie with the acetylene.

I plan on repainting it kubota orange and getting a decal kit to suit my OCD-ness. It weighs in at 850 pounds but the 3830 has no problems lifting or pulling it. I wanted to get some feedback from some of the LP owners on here, good or bad.

It is definitely one of the ugliest I've seen...guess I can see past it. I'll post some progress pictures in the next few days....thanks for the replies!

It is a discontinued model, but well worth the price you paid. The new models have clevis type hitches. I have two LP and you can't beat the quality. I added rear chain guards to mine as I often mow along the roads.

Looks like a great find. I have really abused my RCR1860 and it is still going strong.

Make sure you test the slippage of the Slip Clutch before using it. Sitting outside for a year will make it seam like the clutch disks are welded together. You will probably have to take it apart and sand down the smooth surfaces.

Sounds like about half price of a comparable used one. I bought a similar Woods BB60 with slip clutch and stump jumper for my L3830 and it's a great match. Just keep the blades sharp, oil fresh and RPMs around 2200 when your mowing the heavy stuff.

I'm hoping to get this project turned around this week while I have some time off and the weather is good. I had some welding done this morning for some reinforcement and then removed the lift, tailwheel, sanded and primed. I plan on spraying on the orange tomorrow morning...:D

Looks new now! Won't you want you hitch pins facing out on an L3830?
They were facing out when I got it, but it stretched the links out to where they almost rub the inside of the tire. I'm going to try them inboard since they will allow for more clearance...I also saw a fella selling his on craigslist that had them inboard used with a 37hp John Deere. Its only about a three inch difference in the position, so I'm going to try it. I'll be posting some final pics tomorrow when I'm done putting it back together. I ordered some decals and new skid shoes for the landing gear, but otherwise, it's done!!!

Thats gray primer on the jackstands. They used to be silver...

Thanks for the comments!

Wow looks great! And 850 lbs? Oof! My little BX trembles in fear at the thought :D
I know. 850lbs is a LOT of lovin'. I was scared at first when I hooked it up, but the 3830 didn't even flinch. I have about 300 lbs worth of suitcase weights up front when I pulled the frontier, so it has enough ballast. Most cutters I have looked at are in the 650 lb. range, so a few more lbs. isn't concerning to me. Kubota rates the max lift at 925 lbs (conservative) so I still have some room. ;)

3pt capacity is likely over 2400 lbs on that series machine. My Bush Hog is 525 lbs and my 3pt flings it like a fly swatter.

Step 3: Completion.

Finally got it all back together this afternoon. I'm liking the inboard pins. I gained a few inches of clearance around the rear tires. Seems alot easier to hook up, too. Haven't really cut anything except a few leaves in the backyard...but I'm sure it will do just fine. I have to put the hood on the gearbox and slip clutch, but wasn't sure if I wanted to paint it orange or black. Thanks for the comments. Merry Christmas!
