I found a new old stock BL2664 blower that I'm thinking of getting for my Kubota B2620 tractor.

The dealer said the BL2664 was replaced by the BLMX3164...anyone know if there is any signifigant improvement to on the new BLMX3164 vs the BL2664? The BL2664 is about $1000 cheaper and both have manual chute.

Is the BL2664 suited for use on the B2620 or more of BX size blower?

Thanks!

That model tractor is supposed to be equipped with a B2789 Rear blower or a B2781A-51 front mount blower.
They are both 51" wide which is matched for a B or a BX.

Captain Buzz Kill Here:
The BL2664 is a 64" blower, WAY to big for a little B.
It will be heavy to manage, and will require way too much HP to effectively run, even in light snow amounts.
That blower is designed for larger B's and L's and M's, not small B's or BX's.
The clue in sizing is the BL at the front of the Model #, any BL is going to take a larger tractor to run it.

I can take my 37HP L and drag it right down with a 60" blower, and in real wet heavy snow, I really have to go slow to keep it running at the right RPM.

I'm not sure why you say it would be to big for the OP. You can put a 63" front mount blower on that tractor so a 64" rear mount shouldn't take any more power to run.

Specs on that model say that max is 51", I'm just going off what kubota puts up.

One another note: Kubota says min 20HP required for a BL2664, his tractor is 19HP max. ;)

Partial list of recomended, yes I know there is some wiggle room:

Good info guys. Thanks. I just found this NOS BL2664 for a deal...so I had to try.

I'd imagine the BL2664 could run on the B2620 if it was very light snow. Either way I'd have to work it real hard.

BAP...where does it say you can run a 63" front blower on the B2620? The front PTO is 2500 rpm vs the rear 540...perhaps this is why you can run bigger on the front?

I might just low ball the guy on the NOS BL2664 and if doesn't work well then I could trade it in at kubota on a proper model. Its a smokin deal.

My local dealer just told me that I can run the BLMX3164...what is the new version of the BL2664...not sure where he's getting his info.

Do you guys know what the BLMX3164 is? Is it any different than the BL2664?

I wish I would have got a 64" blower for my B2620. The 51 inch is too small.

I blow full width passes as high as the blower itself and it doesn't slow the tractor down at all. It would easily handle a 64.

I was just blowing wet snow today and had it coming over the top of the blower. Had to do the driveway twice to get everything that was spilling over first pass.

Interesting. 64" is the next size up then from the 51?

I've been doing some reading and sounds like the BL2789 could use improvement...something about adding rubber flaps to 2 of the 4 impellers to prevent snow build up or something?

What model of 51" do you have ItBmine?

This might be a good example of real world might not add up to the engineering specs.

I would be curious to hear from someone that is actually running a 64" blower on that tractor. ;)

I think there is a lot of wiggle room -- especially if the machine has HST.
My B2789 Operator's manual indicates it is suitable for machines with 13 to 26 PTO hp. My B7100 is at the bottom of that range. In low gear, it walks through 1' deep snow at full HST reverse. Hitting the plow row at the end of the driveway full width and the full height or more of the blower, the engine starts to bog down and the snow doesn't throw as far -- until and unless I ease off the travel speed. Engine RPM comes back up, throw is back to maximum, it just advances through the pile a little slower.

Mine is the B2789 51 inch rear 3 pt. It doesn't challenge the tractor at all.

We got hit here the last two days. Highway has been closed for two days now. Yesterday I finally went out when the wind let up a bit. I could take my first pass with the snow depth enough that it was coming over the top of the blower, full pedal speed in M range at 2800 RPM.
So I'm sure it could handle more blower width going slower. I have R4 tires also and they are not loaded.

What an interesting discussion!

For some additional data points I'll add the following:
1) our B7510 uses a 63" front mount blower
2) our B7200 uses a 51" rear mount blower
Both tractors have HST transmissions.

From a "feel" perspective, the B7200 / 51" blower seems the better fit, with sufficient power that one can wade into snow the depth of the blower without having to instantly get off the "go" pedal. The B7510 / 63" blower can very quickly bog so one has to be very aware of what's going on and be instantly ready to drastically reduce forward speed. Of course, without question, the front mount blower is just soooo much easier on the body of the operator, so slowing down a bit doesn't mean additional discomfort for the operator.

Both of these tractors/blowers are relatively new to me, so these are initial observations, not ones backed up by any data which might relate to how abusive these implements might be on the tractor itself.

We've had about 14" of fresh snow this week, and another 8-10" predicted for this weekend. I maintain three big driveways plus about 20,000 square feet of apron at our local airport with these machines, so a single snowfall has, so far, meant four hours of blowing time. I've got to say, I'm loving the orange for this kind of work!

Interesting...Well this is great info.

If the B7510 can run the 63"...if even at lower speed, then a B2620 should be able to run a 64". I think the B7510 is a 21hp tractor...the B2620 26hp, correct?

And if I had to maintain 20k sq/ft...I would not want to drive backwards :) But for me I use use the blade or bucket for main clearing and blower to clear the windrow.

I love having the bucket/blade in the front. Blower on the front with the subframe mounts is not the best either as I found it could barely clear the curb. This can be a HUGE problem for obvious reasons.

Now if we had more GPM flow and could run a SSQA blower on the loader arms, that would be the ideal choice hands down!

That's my situation unclejemima......the rear blower isn't the most comfortable for use hours at a time......but I find myself using the loader for something every single time I take the tractor out. So I couldn't do without that.

Welcome winter, and a belated Merry Christmas and a happy new year also to all..
Just a recap on snow set ups...people were wondering about the b26 and the 64" rear blower...well it does bog down when going too fast through deep snow..but it handles it very smoothly and awesome...honestly who snow blows at 10 miles an hr any how....no ballast or chains or spacers...haven't got stuck yet! ( knock on wood ) ...with laurin cab and 64" kubota blower..is awesome and it handles snow quite well..people wanting and wondering if they should put rear blower on b26 please do..I recommend it..as for cramping neck by looking backwards easy fix..get side mirrors put on and adjust accordingly,.trial and error will get it all set right...where one would just use mirrors ....so on short b26,64" rear blower is awesome and handles it all...I do suggest if you got the means..laurin cab is the best....
