Well the Bah humbuggers struck our neighborhood twice this week

Neighbors had some of those Christmas lights projectors in his yard. Some one run off with one of them while he was home at lunch. Got a look at the truck, but didn't think much of a vehicle stopping in front of his house till he saw all his projectors in the ditch with one missing, and the cord cut on another.

He went through and put them back up, to have one come up missing over night, as well as the power pedestal he had set up being busted.

It's getting really bad when you have to put up game cameras to monitor your display, as well as signs denoting the fact your being recorded, to keep people from messing with your stuff

I can see some mischief from kids, but this sounds like there must be some past animosity apparently blamed on the ornament folks. Some one is "getting even".

Buddy of mine had his stolen last year when they were hard to find. The next one he drove a 2" steel pipe into the ground about 4' with a sledge hammer and fastened the projector to the pipe. Then he duct taped the living crap out of it to the pipe. He left it up all year because it was too much of a pain in the ass to get it apart. It's still shining today. Scumbags will steal anything! I figured they wouldn't be stolen that much this year because they are all over the stores for $20, guess I was wrong.

Those blow up decorations seem to get heisted quite often too.

 I was thinking more double espressos and a .410 with rock salt.
unfortunately here where i live you could kill a person with much less trouble than if you rock salt them..

here if you "wound" someone.... they sue YOU.. even on your own property.

its a shame, but its true.

so if your gonna shoot at all.... you better be in fear for your life & in imminent danger as the law says... + them not be able to argue about it.

Several years ago I draped multiple sets of pink string lights from my eves & from the street they looked like pink icicle lights. Some piece of excrement tore several sets down (destroying two) and took off with 2 1/2 sets. We were at dinner when it happened, but three of my neighbors got a good description the punk , a description of his truck, and even the license number. Of course, it was a stolen truck, with a stolen plate, and they never caught him. I left a sign out front for the rest of the season inviting him to come back & "discuss" it with me, one on one, no cops.... but of course the cowardly POS never showed. Sigh.

The kids stealing your stuff demand your "respect" and "tolerance" yet they never give a thought to reciprocating and what that might actually involve.

Our society has been so mediocritized that ignorance passes for logic. Sad indeed.

Ray, that is so true. Back when my kids were young, if I new they stole something, it was damn the consequences to them, they got there butts whooped, and dragged back to where they stole the item, had to tell the person what they did, and apologize.

Then it was up to the person on whether they pressed charges, called the cops or made the kids work it off. My kids were made to take there licks and deal with the consequences of there actions. More and more in today's society you see parents that cover for the kids cause they might get in trouble.

Neighbor reinstalled his lights yesterday. They are now permanently attached to his oak trees, with the wires attached as well. Course I walked out front last night. Saw a set of his lights moving. His wife's car gone, so I figured they were out to eat. He was on the other side of an oak adjusting a set. I ended up creeping up on him and scaring the daylights out of him

He laughed about it and appreciated that we were looking out for him. :D

Property monitored by video surveillance.
Signs are effective to some degree, a place in the sticks was broken into on many occasions in the winter, one year they put up signs and nothing happened since.
