My b8200 has an hour meter, but no tachometer. Any idea what it should be running at, and how to verify? I don't want to run it harder than I should.

Throttle stop is set from the factory for max safe run speed. There should be two screws on top of the injection pump used for stops for the throttle. One is low idle, other is max engine speed. As long as the screws are still wired, then no one has messed with it, and you can run the throttle to the stop and not do any damage.

depends on what you are doing .....
but - open up the throttle and then back off a bit - you'll be at 90% throttle.
Diesels, unLIKE gassers, are meant to run at or near WOT in order to achieve the torque and hydraulic pressures that are needed to do the work
Fatjay, I think your B8200 has a tachometer! Maybe it's just not functioning. Isn't your hour meter in the same gauge?

Thanks for hte feedback. My hour meter does't have a tach, which makes me think it might have been replaced at some point. Which also would mean i may not actually be at 650 hours... However the bottom of hte engine is bone dry, so who knows. The cable is there, just disconnected and not spinning, so maybe broke.
